I was just reading up on some places where it is legal for a gay man to adopt a child so long as he is single. But if he was marred or in a steady live-in relationship, then it would illegal.

That seems insane to me, but a lot of people really still oppose the idea and think it should not happen

There is a lot of strong opposition to this. It is illegal in most countries and even parts of America oppose it intensely.

Strangely Mexico seems cool with it.

Hell yeah. I don't belong to any religions that have adverse views of homosexuality so I got no reason to keep gay people from being able to raise families and aid the life of an unfortunate child.

I actually got a little heated over a discussion regarding interracial adoption, kinda sorta carries over here even though I think there are even less rational reasons to be against homosexual couples adopting

Gay couples are no more or less qualified to raise children than strait couples.
I'm sure given the choice, children would chose two moms or dads over an alcoholic standard household.

he asked for logical arguments. When the choice is between keeping kids in orphanages or damaging foster care systems, and giving them parents, there's literally only one right answer.

some studies that say kids might socialize differently than their peers doesn't change that. You're still better off with parents who can provide for you.

There's no doubt that something is lost when you don't have both genders to rear the children. Men and women are wired differently and care for children in different ways. I am definitely of the opinion that a good hetero couple is a better environment than a good homosexual couple. Based entirely on the difference between men and women. (Nothing to do with the morality argument of homosexuality).

That said, there are tons of children in foster care. Anybody who is willing to adopt a child in good faith should be able to.
