I feel he's trying too hard to give perspective on the fashion industry, especially with his not so subtle dog eat dog approach. Hey look I can make films that understand women! The movie looks really good, but lacks everything else. It's not like it's even a new/novel message...

That documentary he did (or his wife did, can't remember) on him while filming Only God Forgives makes him seem super narcissistic, too. Pretty interesting watch.

He made Only God Forgives? That makes so much sense! They're similar films. I didn't really like that one.

I didn't mind Only God Forgives so much, but it definitely seems he's taken what worked from Drive (the cool colours, minimal dialouge, graphic violence) and tried to push it further and further.

He's supposed to be directing a crime tv series this year, it'll either be awesome or a horrific boring waste of time.
