I've met quite a few people who couldn't get into it, but I can easily see why people wouldn't like it. The storytelling is basically an extremely slow simmer until it gets to a boil (and boils over). It's never truly boring though. Even the "Fly" episode had its place. Seems a lot of people these days don't have the patience or attention span to appreciate truly good storytelling like this.

I was hooked from the first episode, personally.

You admit that like it's not a great episode of the show. That episode is in my top 5.

I liked it. I didn't love it, and I think it's a tad over-rated. Personally, it fell victim to a couple major problems for me. Firstly, the Nazis were introduced basically just to create a villain that was more disdainful than Walt. There was basically nothing that made them Nazis other than the show announcing it. It was a bit cartoonish.

Second, I didn't really care about any of the characters by the end. Season 5 made them so unlikable that I really didn't care what happened to them. Walt was the worse of all. He was less likable than Tony Soprano at that point. I feel like they could have mixed Season 4+5 together and come out with a better ending. The ending of Season 4 was so perfect and showed Walt's complete transformation into a monster.

Season 5 turned him into an awkward Joker-esque villain. I just didn't buy it.

And it's made worse in particular because we did have an antagonist type character in Gus who was just so much better to match up with a character like Walt than a bunch of dumb rednecks.

But I don't understand that criticism. I mean I cared to see if they'd get their comeuppance and who would come out ahead and who wouldn't. Not really caring for them as people doesn't diminish that enjoyment of it.

Not that I have to care about them, but that I have to care enough to see what happened to them.

I felt like their only purpose was to set up Walt and Jesse's final confrontation. Season 5B was more like Walt vs. Hank than Walt vs. the Nazis.

Eh, I just don't like media where my interaction with it is basically nonexistent. I can sit down and, say, play a strategy game for 8 hours straight because I'm actually doing something with it, but I have zero control of what happens in a show nor is there anything I can do with it beyond just sit there and watch things happen.

But there was never really a question of if Walt could take down the Nazis, everyone knew they were fucked. To me it was more about what was going to happen when Walt realized that Jesse was still alive, after he sided with Hank over him

The entire season was about Walt vs. Hank and where Jesse stood. You can't just cut out the second half of a post and pretend it doesn't exist.

I liked the show. But I didn't love it.

Here's the entire thing in a nutshell:

*Jesse or Walt have a near death experience due to their business*

Jesse or Walt: "I'm done. I quit. It's over."

*Two episodes later*

Jesse or Walt: "Let's cook some more meth."

I can understand people who didn't get into it personally because it's too dark or something.

But it's like nearly the perfect show so people who think it's a bad show are just objectively wrong.

But yeah, if it's not your jam personally that's ok.
