Happened Saturday during lunch. A man was leaving with his daughter, but not before he took out a couple bucks and gave it to the employee who was set to clean his table. She accepted it happily.

Felt this was worth a topic since I have never seen it happen before in 25 years.

This ain't a newly happening thing, is it?

When I worked drive thru at hardees, I would every once in a while have someone who would just give me their change, it happens if you get the combo of "worker who does a good job" and "customer who wants to brighten up their day a little"

Different concept. I think tipping at buffets is pretty customary now, even though it's probably less than 15% on average. I always do it. This was an actual fast food joint.

I'm from the UK where this would never happen, in a restaurant tips are fairly common, but it's a very optional 10%

I would probably do it if I had a huge order and the employee did a good job.

I saw my co-worker get stiffed on a $100 bill this weekend so that cancels out the good deed you saw.

As far as I know, corporate workers can get fired for accepting tips, which is the main reason I've never thought of tipping a mcdonalds employee

They have a tip jar by the register at some places. That's usually at smaller stuff like Moe's Mexican Grill rather than like Burger King or whatever.

I have heard that as well, but I ran it by my store's GM everytime it happened and they were fine with it, usually they're understanding as long as you're transparent about it and not making it look like you're doing something shady like stealing money. Especially when it comes to that vs putting it in the register because then it throws the numbers for the day off when matching it to receipts.

When I was working at Walgreens this dude slipped me a 20 dollar bill because it was Christmas.
