They'll overwhelmingly vote 2006. That's the last year that they played video games after all, so while it's not the sacred 90s, it'll count for something.

I don't think trends exist anymore, or at least we haven't seen any in the last contest(s?).

If rallies aren't involved, even a 100 lead is too much nowadays !

I've got faith. It might not be when they wake up; it could be the After Bingo Vote.

Yeah, I'm hoping that's the case. This was one of the battles I was unsure of, but I ultimately went with 2006. I have a perfect entry as of today... but I might lose a point here. :(

Its ok, some forget. The Casual Revolution of 2007 began when Google bought out Youtube, and ended when Trump won the presidency. The centralized internet reached a fever pitch and caused Trump.

That puts 2011 in the casual revolution, while 2006 is at least before it

Barely before it. Fall 2006 kinda kicked off the Casual Revolution in October/November when Google bought Youtube (and other things like the WoW episode of South Park, PS3 and Wii launch...all fall/winter 06 things). 07 was when the effects of that, combined with the iphone, twitter rise in popularity (SXSW conference) and of course Facebook opening up to more than high school and college kids. The rumblings began in fall 06, 07 was the first full year of the Casual Revolution though.

did @SBAllen seriously look at a match with Okami, Zelda, Gears of War, Final Fantasy, and then reduce it to Skyrim vs Oblivion?

Other than FF and Sonic, 2004 destroys 94. MGS3, HL2, World of fucking Warcraft, San Andreas, HALO 2

I mean seriously guys 2004 is objectively better, the best Sonic and FF do not dethrone all those other highly influential and all time great games.

Some more from 2004: Metroid Prime 2, UT2K4, CSS, hell it even had the best NFL games that year. It's not close. I'd argue it's probably the 3rd or 4th best year in gaming ever. Only 1998, 2001 can beat it. I take back 95, it's not close there either

You forgot a couple things.

Like: Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Tekken, and DKC.

I'll give you DKC and Super Metroid, but still, man 2004 was huge

2011 vs 2006 is a lot closer though. Skyrim and Dark Souls carry it pretty hard.

Im old, but how does 2006 beat 2011? Dark Souls and Portal 2 are better than anything in 06.

Only game I loved from 06 was Bully and it isnt listed

1994 also had Warcraft, System Shock, and Killer Instinct.

Fall 2004 was the last great time for gaming, but i mean meh. Ill take DKC, FF6, Super Metroid, MMX, etc over it.

2006 was straight up shit, not sure why anyone thinks it was a good year. Skyrim >>>>> Oblivion (both are bad compared to Morrowind or Daggerfall though) and who gives a shit about Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess. The rest of the games for those years were just whatever and play very little into that match

And like, arguably the peak of the SNES and Genesis libraries. PC was also making giant steps. And then there are the arcade games.

And maybe for old people 2006 and 2011 are basically the same. The technology was already advancing in diminishing returns by then and they're only... 5 years apart.
