It just means the state has no cause to go after the estate for damages and recompense.

The family of the decedent can still file a civil lawsuit against the estate for damages.

yeah but they said that he knew about how the patriots would pay him some of his signing bonus if it was vacated so they think it was a motive

You can't convict a dead guy so it's completely fair. Records keep track of convictions, after all.

He was also secretly gay, he was also in a prison drug ring, he was also murdered by the COs.

The pats will tie that money up for ears and make it cost more to pay lawyers to get it than what they'd get from the money. It's all silly.

Yeah I get all that and that's all great, anything to take money away from the pats

Take all of his money and split it between his daughter and the families of the people he murdered

And give half a mil to his boyfriend just in the name of fairness

Don't the pats have a pretty low salary cap already? Didn't Brady have to take a pay cut for the last few years every year or something?

He didn't have to, he did just because he wanted to stay on the cheating team.

I can't talk calmly about the patriots even when murder is involved

I guess. I don't care enough about football to know anything. I just know that money isn't going to be seen by his family.

The sentencing is part of entering that conviction into record. Without a sentence, you don't really have a conviction on your record.

He was sentenced to life in prison

I don't think you know all the details Zeus

He was appealing his life sentence and then killed himself, and the judge said welp laws in Massachusetts say if you die before you appeal the conviction disappears

idk, NPR might have explained it badly. The way I heard it was that he was convicted but died before sentencing.

Nah he was found guilty and serving his life sentence for murder, then in a second murder case he was found not guilty because somebody lied about something in their testimony, not sure the official details on that. That same person had testified in the first trial, so they filed an appeal on that first murder charge. Before he could actually have his appeal trial, he killed himself. And in Massachusetts, if you die before you appeal, then your conviction is vacated. So he essentially is an innocent man.

Also he had Casey Anthony's lawyer

It sucks that he's considered not guilty, but no point in continuing since he's dead.

No. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. Like the other person said, if an appeal is on record and not complete they can't keep the conviction.

I'm sure this will lead to overturning of the law.
