Do you agree that season 9, episode 2 is the day the Simpsons died?

I know some people feel that the Simpsons didn't die until maybe season 10-12, and that they fizzled away slowly more than burned down all at once.

How do you feel?

Disagree.

The show is still good, and there are even some truly great episodes here and there.

(Though, I do feel season 30 is where they should end it.. it's time).

Yes we have gotten the worst episode in a more recent season, we have gotten some that I would put in the top 50 for sure

First off, shitty viral video. Second, no, because we were still having great episodes in season 10. The actual decline happened some time after that which lasted for a while but the show started to pull it together around season 25.

I feel The Simpsons were at their best from seasons 1-10 but I certainly don't agree they're dead. And I still catch every new episode.

Season 8 was the peak, 9 and 10 were still okay, then it sucked from there with maybe 3-5 good episodes per season at best.

^Yeah, I watch it here and there still, but I maybe only catch about 1/5 of the episodes at most (following season 15). It's a double whammy in the sense that The Simpsons degraded and many good adult-oriented cartoon sitcoms popped up. Rick & Morty, Archer, and the like...

I grew up with this show and I also do feel that the show has declined in quality (story content) over the years...I'm not really sure when though. But still, I continue to watch it weekly. It's still part of our household activity. Hehe.

Yup. This. I remember being dismayed at the news. Hartman really was a genuine part of the show.

I haven't seen any episode of The Simpsons in years. I don't really watch any TV in general anymore though.
I find pretty much everything on TV boring and I'd much rather play videogames on it.

tbh, I had sworn off tv for a few years then got back into it a while ago... although right now I guess I'm kinda sworn off again since I'm not following stuff as it comes out, mostly thanks to things going from Hulu to other places.

Even at its best its far from the best animated sitcom, the worst of South Park is better than the best of the Simpsons

And overall Futurama, KotH, Bobs Burgers and American Dad are also better

I can't remember then. I didn't watch it as regularly in highschool. There was an episode sometime in the 2000s I liked where Bart creates a comic of Homer getting angry and calls it Angry Dad. Which ended with Homer falling into a trap set by Bart that gets him covered in Green paint and looking and acting like the Hulk. Stan Lee even made a cameo in it.
