Just got it the other day after finally getting Second Chapter completed. I'm sure other people are playing or have been playing, but I didn't see a topic for it. Please mark for spoilers as you go.

Quite enjoyed the Prologue, despite its brevity compared to FC and SC. Chapter 1 has been... weird so far. It feels very un-Trailsy. I mean, I'm looking forward to what they do with this cube space and everything, but I feel more like I'm playing a Mega Man Battle Network game, maybe even Saints Row IV, than what I've come to expect. It's been odd.

I've been told that a major function of TitS the 3rd is to transition the player out of Liberl and set the stage for the rest of the world, which is important because there's a lot going on and it's where all the rest of the games take place.

While I haven't played the 3rd myself yet to confirm that, the explanation sounds highly probable to me based on my experience jumping straight from SC into the first Trails of Cold Steel game.
