i asked her numerous times how to bring up to the ex-gf that i'm seeing her. she's pissed because every now and then we text, but it's always about school... or something where saying something like "oh btw i'm seeing someone" feels really awkward and forced.

and when she was texting guys that i told her i was uncomfortable with (because they were interested) and that i asked her to tell that she was dating, she never did. she said she was doing nothing wrong, and so i just eventually dropped it.

but this is a constant issue because we have a past together.

Yeah, I mean, there is no magic advice we can offer you. This sort of behavior is not going to get better unless you sit down and talk about it and make sure both of you lay out your feelings on these issues completely. It looks like you already did that, so the only real option left is to weigh if this is worthwhile and remembering that things like this tend to get worse as people get more comfortable with each other and become less worried about pleasing their partner. There are no tricks or clever plans or anything to get it to work. Either you keep it inside and let the resentment build up, or you find a partner that is much more compatible with you and your life.
