That's by far the best hour either game has had so far today. Normally, such a strong hour at this time of day would be decisive as it would indicate that 1996 had a firm grip on the day vote. But this year, the variance in percentages is dramatically higher than before, so a lot of that last hour could be a fluctuation rather than a strong signal for the day vote.

it'll be interesting to see if this goes past the morning or if it's typical Mario. I think Majora did well in the afternoon hours vs. Super Metroid too, but yeah, I've thought 96 was a slight fave ever since 00 struggled to gain any separation overnight.

Great match! I wish Pokemon GSC would have made it into 2000's picture -- once again, a pic snub could have made all the difference -- but 1996 was always going to take a significant portion of the Nintendo-vote. SMRPG + SM64 (+ N64) is a concentrated force that's easy to fall in line for if you like Mario, and nearly everybody's played several Mario games. LoZ:MM (+ the reference of Pokemon GSC) are powerful and varied which is great too, but I feel like the Mario games divided and are currently conquering that Nintendo support.

I also thought 2007 would be doing a lot better than this...oh well!

It started in 1142 and the match ended in 1151. The discussions about it continued during the next match though.

My pre-contest thoughts were that having a variety of games was more important than the actual strength of the games themselves. So like in this case an oversimplified version of it is something like "2000 takes a decent chunk (but still a minority) of the Square JRPG vote with FFIX but then wins the entirety of the Nintendo vote through MM and Pokemon GSC." Basically 2000 looks like it has a foothold with every fanbase, whereas 1997 doesn't appear to.

It sort of makes sense to me still, but I think just the gaming community is a lot less segregated than I was imagining it to be beforehand.

You really don't have to go far in your thinking to make sense of why the site is dying, you can just take yourself as an example and you will understand it
You need to ask yourself, when was the last time YOU used a FAQ in this site? honestly I can't answer this question because I don't remember
I only use wikis for information now, and see a gameplay video if I get really stuck

The only reason to come to GameFAQs is a message board for every game in existence and as much as I am aware this is the only website in the Internet to have something like that
Sadly it's not good enough because Allen never bothers to fix it, he can start it off by the obvious "combining message boards of different consoles to one board" to avoid stuff like this

Which I guess it's why reddit has such a bad rep.

They were too scared of the site getting bad publicity.I think that's the reason why it's so strict.Could do with some sort of publicity at this point though.
