I quit tech support back in 2012... Holy crap it has already been about 4.5 years since then... Went into network operations support and then moved up to network engineer. At this job, they have a "helpdesk" group that does general tech support for the employees. If it's a network issue they can't seem to resolve, they'll defer to me. Rarely, if they can't figure it out at all and don't know what the issue is, I'll take a stab at it.

This guy was having an issue with videos on any site loading very slowly and when they did load, the video would play at 1/4 speed. Youtube's speed settings were normal, and it would also happen on any other site with both Chrome and IE. I also noticed his sound wasn't working. Windows 7 said the sound was playing (when you click the little slider on the sound icon, it shows the little green bar going up and down). Testing the speakers in the playback devices screen showed the same thing, but no sound came out.

After toggling different settings for about 45 minutes, I decided to reinstall his sound drivers and that fixed the issue with both the sound and video playback.

Now I look like a genius when in reality I just got lucky, lol.
