Good software recommendations or tips? I also speak some German and French, I want to brush up on them. But i want to learn some Chinese which I have very little experience with.

find something you actually intend to use the language for once you know enough of it or you'll just forget it all again

besides lessons, audio speaking and practice, just start consuming all your media in that language you want to learn. even if you don't understand a thing, over time you'll get a feel for the sounds and context learning what those foreign words mean. helps your pronunciation too

I'm not sure how Duolingo is for a brand-new learner but it definitely helped me refresh my Spanish.

Eh depends. I still remember some Italian words and phrases I learned from screwing around on Rosetta Stone like 10 years ago.

If you're going to learn any language that makes use of logographic characters (Chinese languages or Japanese), download Anki and make yourself comfortable with it.
