Kind of a blow to the Trumpanzee narrative that whatever dirt Trump had on Comey was holding him back.

What this signifies in my opinion is that he wants whatever he says to be public record rather than able to be filed away in a secret file. He wants his testimony to be undiluted and straight from him to the public rather than hearsay or covered up.

He flip flopped all over the place on that one.

Literally oblivious to the fact that the committee isn't entirely made up of Republicans. Or are you now claiming there are 7 Senate Democrats who are pro-Trump administration.

You stated my exact meaning... Think about it. The committee is two sided, so with a private hearing, you get two stories. One side the Trumpanzees believe, one side the leftists believe and normal people don't know which to believe. A public hearing removes the option for a biased retelling, as it would be public record. I think you misunderstood me.

Holy fuck short term memory.
You mean the same party that's calling for a special prosecutor into the Russian probe right now? Do you want me to spell out why the party who has a stake in the possible collusion between Trump and Russia would want to hear what the guy who was charge of said investigation has to say?
Please don't add your two cents in the matter if they're this fucking useless.

Wow, just a few minutes ago you claimed the committee was nuthugging the Trump administration in the topic you made in politics. Now you're claiming the members are polar opposites that would confuse the public unless the media gets involved?

Does media not lean left/right? Just earlier this week the left-wing media managed to convince liberals that the AHCA didn't involve women or minorities.

My exact words were "solidly on the side of", a far cry from a bunch of Trump nuthuggers, but you knew that, you're just trying to discredit me because you misread.

On the off chance that you were serious, the committee IS solidly on his side. The majority support him.

And sure, the media leans, but it's not really possible to edit live footage to suit one bias or another. That's my whole point. He wants to make everything available publicly, without dilution of media. Trump supporters should be happy, if they truly think there's nothing to hide.

Short version? Comey was in charge of the investigation of any connection between Trump's campaign and Russian operatives.

Comey asked for more funds for the investigation. A few days later Comey was fired by Trump.

Trump makes a tweet cryptic tweet shortly afterwards: "James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!"

Comey now seemingly calls his bluff showing willingness to testify in public.

Actually he was pretty clear: He fired Comey to stop the Russia investigation.

His surrogates had a different excuse on Tuesday, but during that interview on Thursday he was pretty clear about it himself.

He then tweeted that we should stop expecting the White House correspondent or any of his surrogates to be accurate anymore and should just take the news from the horse's mouth so to speak.

You left out the part where, the day before Comey was fired, it was discovered that he had given false information in his testimony regarding the investigation of Huma Abedin a few days earlier.

You also left out how Session's letter to Trump that suggested firing Comey referenced Comey's handling of investigations and "faithfully following the rules."

I don't know if you were uninformed, misinformed, or just blatantly pushing conspiracy theories, but you're spreading false information.

I left out a lot of irrelevant information since this a long and complicated story.

Trump already clearly stated the White House press story that Comey was fired at the recommendation of the Deputy Attornye General (Rod Rosenstein) was incorrect: He had already made the decision himself, and it was because he was investigating the Trump/Russia connection.

For one, 8 to 7, so much for 'solidly'.
Two, this isn't a trial; the Intelligence Committee's purpose for Comey's hearing is to see if he has anything to add to the Russian probe. Republicans having one member more than democrats does not restrict the latter's ability to field questions in regards to the topic in any meaningful way.

I still find it weird that so many Americans think this is normal.

They look at Trump, the things he says, the things he does, the people he fires, the policies his promotes.

And millions perhaps over 100 million people just go "Yeah so what?" as if this is normal behavior.

It's so.... weird
