Welcome to Broodwar, the now 18 year old game who's popularity, game balance, and viability as a specator sport, proved that professional gaming is economically feasible. The game that saved South Korea from economic depression. The game who's last balance patch is from 2001.

This tournament is currently in the Round of 8. There will be 4 days of this, and the 2 sets so far have been wild.

Flash played vs Last, not Best. It was a fun series to watch, not used to seeing wraiths have so much impact in tvt.

SouKey vs Best
Great series, a clear demonstration between early game leads from SoulKey snowballing to big advantages vs Best's stone cold macro abilities, as a Protoss fanboy it was sad to see Best go down but I have to give SoulKey props for his win.

PvZ Bisu vs Shine
Shine has been playing like he's on fire while Bisu seems like he has been struggling to me with game 2 being a disaster with the sair/reaver build.

What a series between SoulKey and Flash but the final game was the most interesting for me

The hesitation and pullback after the initial attack I think was a mistake since at that point there were too many marines to ever be able to break through the ramp when he tried again.. After that the focus to rush to Hivetech on 2 bases was pretty questionable instead of trying to stick it out at Lairtech to try and get a third base instead.

But the biggest nail in the coffin for me was SoulKey's over aggression before getting the Guardians since he lost way too many lings and mutas when he was attempting to trade units in disadvantageous positions and as result he had far fewer units than he needed to protect his morphing Guardians.

Granted this game had a lot of contrast from Mong vs Shine in game 2 as Shine could still afford a gas heavy army with only 3 bases despite losing most of the workers in his main but maybe that illustrates how much of a difference an extra geyser makes.

About that first attack, I agree. When he pulled away, it was 2 marines, 2 scvs, vs 3 lings, and 1 scv at 5 health, and 1 marine popping out. I think Flash was going to hold even if Soulkey kept the attack

Soulkey's "overaggressive" play was intended to keep pressure and maintain map control. It was handled pretty well by soulkey up until the last few punches/pushes before trying to morph the guardians.

PvZ - 3rd place match between Bisu and SoulKey

Pretty underwhelming play by SoulKey playing like he was on tilt compared to his set against Best.
