I don't think that you're ever going to find critical success in the US with Resident Evil as a film franchise. The money is probably in Asia, so at this point I think you have to hand this series to a Japanese or Chinese director and let them have at it. The entire concept would be better served through it.

As someone who's seen all of the Resident Evil films with Jovovich, I can say confidently that a reboot would have difficulty being worse.

It's these kinds of topics that I like to remind people that the Resident Evil film franchise grossed over 1.25 billion dollars.

Having never really played the games I didn't really have a problem with the movies. Well not for the first two or three anyways. I was disappointed they didn't keep some characters around

Having it done by a serious director is more important than fidelity. The RE movie franchise is bad on its own terms; it's connection to the games is irrelevant.
