Are you playing with classic controls?

New controls break the difficulty pretty quickly, the game wasn't designed for movement like that.

Jill is better for newbies since she has a couple extra item slots and the lockpick is bet that the lighter. Also has grenade launcher access.

Jill is the easier character IIRC. Look at enemies as more of an environmental hazard, git gud at dodging them instead of killing everything so you can save ammo for the more dangerous shit.

yeah, chose new controls. the one time I did try to play back in the day I was instantly put off by the tank controls.

I have the REmake on my PS4 backlog too.

He has more health (it's really noticeable on lower difficulties where you're taking less damage), gets the assault shotgun, and has access to multiple free heals through his partner.

It is however overall more difficult than Jill's campaign assuming equal difficulties

Jill gets the Assault Shotgun too.
