If they're cheap to produce it'd be great to just have a fuck ton of them at clubs for free. Just like regular straws.

My main concern would be that people become too reliant on the straws and start being less vigilant as a result, and as soon as a drug pops up that the straws can't detect it will be difficult to get a handle on that

Do I constantly watch my date and every single action she performs at all times? No, that's crazy. I'm typically focused on their face as I talk to/listen to them. If they pulled a straw out of their purse and put it in a drink, I could very easily not notice.

More importantly I wouldn't care.

Don't colleges already hand out coasters that do the same? All they have to do is drip a little of the drink on the coaster and it changes color if there is something fishy in it.

Which is false so maybe the article is wrong.

Yeah, that's true. Though I've lived in lots of places where I could safely leave the door unlocked. Moving to more dangerous areas did add that same kind of tension.
