My mom loves plants and knows how to garden so I got her one so it would be different

but these bastards apparently take some work

One thing I already knew is to not make them close their mouths (or whatever) without food in them too many times, they'll die wasting too much energy without getting any back

you can't use tap water, distilled or rain water only since tap has too much shit in it

you can't feed them meat because their digestive cycle takes like 12 days and it will rot and kill them

the bugs you feed them can't be TOO dead. They have to be moving at least a little bit. If you feed them something thats too still, they won't eat it digest it. Its a system they have that doesn't allow their mouths to be closed too long for nothing, incase something other than a bug or water falls into their maws. So if it determines the thing in their grasp isn't something worth digesting, it'll open back up again and reject it

fertilizer also kills them

<_>

I didn't think these guys were so fragile

I had one for a little while (I was surprised how cheap they were - like a buck for a small one). I didn't remember it being too difficult to care for, but then again, I also didn't have it long so it must have died quick. I'd have cared more if it wasn't so dirt cheap.

The end.

I will say that I do stare at it alot when I'm over

Its an incredible sight that something like it exists

I mean, like, imagine if a tree had something like that, it can grab you and eat you

the crazy thing is, the VFT is NOT too far off from that! It seems like it would be fiction but its not

its a wonder of nature

one can't help but feel that those trappers are mouths too. because of that aspect, you can't help but feel its "alive" and possibly sentient.

and yea,it works too. I already fed it and sure enough, it instantly closes down on the bug

Its really a trip in most regards having this thing around

as I said, I can't help but feel this plant is like, more "Alive" than most other plants

so I kinda imagine this is the same amount of neglect as one would have with say, a hamster or something lol

I'm not that bad!

But yeah, there's no bullshit about it - put a bug in there and it'll close up and digest it. Pretty cool.
