From the people I've talked to, it seems like any actual proof was under wraps with most "evidence" available to the public being of a circumstantial nature.

I tried searching online, but the Internet is vague on this question.

The most common Trump defense from his supporters is "there's no proof", but isn't that basically how Nixonites reacted?

Anyone with firsthand (very doubtful) or reliable secondhand experience?
