Here in Wisconsin, a lot of people I know won't go driving at night when it's first starting to get nice out due to the ridiculous amount of drunk drivers. Or around pretty much any holiday which results in a day off of work.

Part of the reason I love living in New York. So many cabs and the trains run 24/7. The group never has to assign a DD for our nights out and we all get home safe.

I live in Albuquerque, home of the highest drunk driving incidents in the country. The state does all it can to prevent this, and from the parties or whatever I've been at people don't let drunk people drive either, but still.

It's a fear that's always in the back of my mind but I don't let it stop me from going out if I have too. I just drive defensively and treat every car as a possible threat, but that's pretty much how I always drive.
