Diablo, Bass.EXE, Ryu Hayabusa and Vivi Ornitier have challenged Samus, Cloud, Big Boss and Aigis to a fight! Location of the fight: Nibelheim Mountains - Tall, sharp, and desolate, little lives in the Nibelheim Mountains — which makes it a fitting place to die. The few paths winding through the crags are narrow and steep, providing little room for maneuvering. If you fall, it's a long drop down. Attackers will start at the bottom of the mountain range, and defenders will start at the Mako reactor.. Which side will win?


Guidelines

- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Vivi Ornitier is as seen in Final Fantasy IX, with all of his spells except for Death, Stop, and Break. He is equipped with Mace of Zeus, Black Robe, Circlet, Bracer, Protect Ring, and the abilities Reflect-Null, Return Magic, and Half MP. He may not achieve Trance.

Ryu Hayabusa is as he appears in Ninja Gaiden II, with all his weapons fully upgraded.

Bass.EXE is as he appears in the Megaman Battle Network series, with access to all the moves and properties of his Omega forms, though if any of his barriers/auras is destroyed, he loses access to all of them for the rest of the fight. He can operate here same as he does on the Net. He has access to the X Form from Mega Man Zero 2.

Diablo is as he appears in Diablo 3 and Heroes of the Storm, with all of his attacks and abilities, although cannot turn into his shadow form.

Cloud Strife is as seen in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, with access to the First Tsurugi and any abilities/skills granted by that equipment. He additionally has access to all magic (green) FF7 materia and his wing from Kingdom Hearts. He will start the battle being pulled forward 50 ft towards the enemy team, falling prone if he hits a wall. He will have to combat a very powerful suction force bringing him towards Diablo as long as he lives, which will not require his focus. He has also been afflicted with crippling existential doubt. Over the first two minutes he will progressively fade away, becoming increasingly translucent and incorporeal (along with all of his weapons and gear) until disappearing completely at the two-minute mark.

Big Boss is as he appears in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in his Battle Dress and Helmet. He has an AM-MRS-4 assault rifle, Kabarga-83 shotgun, HAIL-MGR-4 grenade launcher, AM-MRS-73 sniper rifle, LPG-61 machine gun, PB Shield, CGM-25 rocket launcher, Geist P3 pistol, a full complement of throwing and placed weaponry, and [arm custom], all fully upgraded. Additionally, he has D-Dog with him.

D.Dog is as seen in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain with the Sneaking (Knife) uniform.

Aigis is as she appears in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax with all of her moves available. Pallas Athena also has all of her skills and properties from Persona 3 available.

Samus is as she appears in Super Metroid, with all of her upgrades, as well as her equipment from Metroid Prime 3, giving her the Nova Beam, Corruption Mode, Upgraded Grapple, X-Ray visor and the Command visor w/ Gunship. Cloud has given her his motorcycle, Fenrir, to ride in battle this week.

anyway.

vivi = woops totally outclassed against 5's/6's, especially with trance absolutely locked (why was his character upgrade nerfed on remake??)
ryu h = hes good!
diablo = hes good! did you know that it takes 10 nephalem to kill him? you know. like. MAYBE. maybe not! depends.
bass.exe = pretty good but i feel like X form aint so great (aka redundant customization!!)

big boss booty daddy = arguably the best merc on the terrain
aigis = robot, uh, worse than bass and ryu, but yeah shes okay
samus = got a SICK BIKE! also samus

so basically the match boils down to: whats better -- ryu h's ninjaing or big boss' sniping (and canine pal). i really like ryu doing ninja shit on this terrain, he seems pretty good at navigating it, but i actually dont super remember the mountain segment in ff7

Like yeah sure Diablo survives, but that's a LOT of firepower for Bass and Ryu H to stare down at, especially while BB, Aigis and Samus herself are pewpewing them

Oh and speaking of that team, since Scare didn't post his argument...

Scare's argument:

We have Diablo, Vivi, Bass, and Ryu H against what ends up being Samus, Big Boss and Algis, as Cloud will be gone within 2 minutes and the terrain is large enough that it will take more than 2 minutes before the teams encounter each other.

Beyond not being around to fight, Cloud can't even buff the party as Wind Man has used Suction on him. which is dragging him away from his team at all times, so he does not have the ability to cast any buffs or magic before he dissappears.

Vivi's prescense doesnt just eliminate Cloud though, as I understand that Algis has a big weakness to lightning, which is something Vivi has access to. Aside from Thundaga he also has access to the other elements as well as poison and bio spells, drain and demi spells, and strong non elemental spells like Comet, Meteor and Flare. He also has Doomsday which is massive Shadow elemental damage. But he also has use should things get too close for comfort- his Mace of Zeus can cast mini as well so if he survives to be close enough to get a shot off, he can take someone down with him.

Ryu's agility should be able to make him outquick Samus, and he has some medium range ability to work with as well. He has tackled giant statue of liberty mech styled monsters and helicopters. He is down to hang with a bounty hunter

Bass is equiped with X form which gives him 150% speed and power. Which bass is really fast and agile to begin with and has flight and his life aura. Its going to be incredibly hard to even get his life aura down let alone to hurt him. I am not going so far as to say Bass solos, but bass will do a lot in this fight.

Diablo has his usual bag of tricks that increase his own abilities and slows and stuns those aorund him, as well as using his big attacks like Red lightning hose and Apocalypse. His bone cages will also help as the mountain should be an interesting terrain for him to go around, and make it unexpected for things to crawl up out of the groud to grab you.

The Samus gunship is going to take all of the fight out of this. Like Scare pointed this is a very large terrain but what's the problem with a large terrain? Less ability to see things coming. Samus can hop in that ship and snip his entire team with very little resistance with the peaks of the mountains and the windyness of the trails can cause the team to not only be hit down by the ship but also have the difficulty striking back. They will have the same problem Big Boss as well. He may specialize in hand to hand combat and but he is still very good with the guns and the description pointed out that he has a lot of good fire arms. The enemy team will be attempting to go around those corners and won't be seeing Big Boss coming.

Let's talk Cloud. He's only got two minutes and he's already being pulled in by the win. Cloud, despite the beginning of the game, is a team player. I think Cloud in this scenario would be a suicide bomber. He knows the terrain, he's emotionally charged through it before , so the twists and turns are not going to bother him. This is to me like the scene where Cloud flies through the air against Bahamut SIN in Advent Children and he is going to cut through Diablo. He'll be just as motivated because he knows he's dying in two minutes to join Aerith and Zack soon. Not to mention he's going to want to save his friend by taking out the biggest threat of the enemy team.

Let's talk Aigis. I admittedly don't know a large amount about Aigis but she is a strong robot so status effects are not going to affect her. Then she's a strong individual especially considering her ability to suplex people. So what I'm doing is after Cloud is done being my suicide bomber I'm sending Aigis out as bait. She's going around to get the enemy attention and while they're focusing on her or even engaging her they can be sniped down and blown up by Samus and Big Boss who they won't see through the spikey mountains.

They would need to know my location before they can shoot off, which the mountain isnt all clear, theres debris along the way and what not.

Also Ryu has faced large metal flying contraptions, its in his wheel house to take down

To summarize Mel Gibson is able to take out the British battalion by getting them confused by shots coming out from multiple while seeing a man running back and forward. You place Aigis and Samus in one location and shooting with Big Boss acting as the ghost (because of his access to multiple guns) and both using the spikey mountains as cover I still don't feel like the 3 remaining are going to be able take down the gunners.

Let's talk Cloud flying at Diablo because Scare does not think Cloud could get there in the 2 minutes. It's only 50 ft. The distance is much larger in Advent Children where Cloud is "jumping" towards Bahamut SIN. Cloud has the ability to not only use the wind to gain speed and momentum to charge Diablo but he should have no problem reaching the enemy team in time.
