Worst part for it was it wasn't killed upon getting hit. I saw it trying to limp away. It looked pretty agonizing.

Damnit, this is yet another reason why I hate humanity's addiction to car use.

Feels bad, once I was driving a tractor and a bird flew directly under the tire. I felt bad, but got over it pretty quickly since it was its own fault.

move all remaining groundhog mercenaries to the front lines. Have sheep troopers squadrons A and B flank the cows. They're using DC-17 hoof blasters.

Would been better if the bird had died. It might not survive with broken leg, and will die slow and painful death.

Yeah, I guess you have a point. We all see roadkill from time to time, but it just sucks when you actually see it happen.

How does a crow's leg get crushed by a car? Was it sideways sticking its leg out? Was it sticking it's leg out while holding it's front part of the body back? It's really hard for me to imagine this happening to a bird. Usually every other part of the bird would get hit before its legs. Did was it flying and dropped its legs for a landing and got injured? But you said crushed...so...I don't know?

HOW EXPLAIN

This is a crow. Crows legs aren't a part that sticks out to be crushed easily. Unless it was walking towards the car?

I think it was about to fly away, at which point it leaned its head and body forward, leaving its legs were at the back. It tried to get away, but was too late.

The crow was obviously trying to scam the driver, but it didn't anticipate this turn of events. Now it's going back to it's buddies saying "Guys, don't do it, it hurts. Oh god it hurts!"

Its lower body was hit as well by the looks of it. At least I heard a screeching sound from the car that hit him, so at least the driver tried.

Ahh, that makes a lot more sense. That car must've been going really fast for that to occur, poor guy.

One time a whole flock of birds flew right in front of my car on the interstate.

When I stopped to get gas there was literally 7 or 8 stuck in the grill.

That's awful.

I have this weird thing about crows. Everyone I know hates them, thinks they are disgusting but I love them. They are always a good omen for me. I understand it's all placebo, but I've just always found a murder of crows comforting.

I've actually seen this a few times, don't know if it's true but it would make sense. Most of the research I've read indicates that the Corvids are remarkably smart. They can remember like 200 hiding places, memorize people's faces and form complex societies with a territory and everything. Because their families are largely territorial, they can actually stay in the same place for generations and you can actually 'befriend' them by leaving them gifts and such. I'm not sure how much of that is true, but I've seen tons of information like that out there. I've even heard their intelligence rivals chimps, but they are ridiculously incapable of socializing like chimps which makes them seem much stupider.

Of course, they are still carrion birds, so that is enough for most people to outright dismiss them as awful as pigeons and gulls.

There is youtube video of a girl who i think fed one raven/crow and now she receives gifts from multiple birds. It went to a news i think. They just bring stuff to them.

Also they def remember faces. Afaik, if they see you as a threat, like if you throw stones at them you won't ever get to walk near their nests or territories without getting attacked. Changing clothes or haircut won't work afaik.

Seems to be rather intelligent birds.

Yeah, there is a pair of big crows/ravens near where I live I always wanted to befriend with gifts but wasn't sure how to do it really. I usually whistle to them though, and they don't seem bothered by me at all anymore. I nicknamed them Hugin and Munin. I think their babies are around now.

Then again, the summer I was at my mom's during my internship I talked to the same robin every day for a few months and it started coming around when I called and would chirp back and stuff, so it might just be birds in general.

I read that befriending crows can take very long time, or might not work at all. I guess at worst you can make them view you as a lot less harmful, or threatening than other humans, and at best you might get to even handfeed them, but i guess it depends on many factors. Like location, have they had bad experiences with humans before, how easy they find food so they might not take any unnecessary risks, even if they view you as a low threat.
