Is it?

in my state both are legal but they recently just changed it to that, plus you can set off fireworks on memorial day and the day before and after.

Yes, but only the safe and sane ones that stay on the ground.

There's designated areas in the region for launching fireworks.

The law says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places.

You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for:

Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight
New Year’s Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am

Both are legal here unless the NWS issues a high fire threat, in which case a total ban on fireworks is in place (which seems to be about 25% of the time).

I had to look it up... if I'm understanding correctly, you have to have written permission from the fire department to either buy or sell fireworks.

No idea, but I doubt it's ever enforced.

I grew used in Massachusetts, where it's illegal to even buy any type of firework.

Now I live in New Hampshire, which is the state we used to travel to as kids (about an hour away) to buy fireworks and bring them back home.

There are legit like 5 stores right over the boarder that make all their money off of Massachusetts buyers :)

Only the boring ones that don't fly or explode.

My nieces are still young enough to enjoy snakes. I think I'll look up that recipe and make them a huge one this year.

Only the ones on the ground are legal here, but just about everyone has/sets off illegal ones that go off in the air.

About the same here. And it's legal for just about any business to sell pretty serious fireworks.

Iowa allowed it earlier this year. Only during certain times of day during certain holidays. And only on private property with owner permission.
