There's no such thing as controversial food opinions. Being a picky eater is the result of genetics and poor upbringing. It's not a person's fault if they dislike vegetables, seafood , sauces, mushrooms, and fruit flavored desserts. It's all wired into their brain. If you describe eating mushrooms as liking a sweaty armpit you have something in your body that makes you more sensitive to mushrooms so you taste something that many others won't notice. Go ahead and discredit entire groups of food and a entire culture's food, but don't go thinking you're a special snowflake for not liking what everyone else likes. :)

but people love the taste of a half-cooked burger at a restaurant because the restaurants use frozen and often unsalted ground beef and a well done restaurant burger tastes dry.

if you salt your beef and let it sit for 5-10 min before cooking, and use meat that is 15% fat or more, youll retain enough natural grease to keep it tasting moist. and as it's ground beef it is never chewy.

Well yeah that's a given.

Even still, for steaks I still prefer reverse sear over lump charcoal, over sous vide followed by a sear.

Sous vide just doesn't develop the flavors that regular cooking does. It's great for certain sauces, eggs, fish, long cooked in a pinch like ribs or if you want to get crazy, brisket. But smoked brisket will always best a sous vide one.

Cupcakes are even more overrated. It has the cake problems but even worse. Food Network has ruined everything by hyping cupcakes more than they deserve. Bottom tier desert.

Used to say Italian food was overrated but I feel like the hype has finally died down a bit. It was confounding that bruschetta was treated like divine mana but somehow chips and salsa (pretty much the same thing) was peasant food.

Thin crust pizza has its place and is good but thicker crust is better. Pizza is bread, sauce and cheese at its core so to marginalize the bread so "you can taste the ingredients" was as is dumb. In fact, I'm in the camp that its the crust that makes a truly great pizza, more so than the sauce, cheese and toppings.

Depends on the cake. I have had some amazing freaking cakes before but for the most part I agree. Most cakes are overloaded with sugar and no actual flavor in the frosting, and no flavor in the cake itself either.

My forte! Here we go...

All vegetables are grotesque, with the exception of fennel, which I can stomach. I force myself to eat them cause its healthy but I always feel queasy after, and certain vegetables I blatantly refuse to eat.
Cheese is disgusting, especially when melted. It tastes awful and looks absolutely repulsive.
I struggle to stomach anything with contrasting flavours, I hate it when people mix potato or something onto their meat or the worst of all, putting fruit in chocolate. Just ew....
Less controversial but the closest thing to a Fast Food Restaurant I have ever enjoyed was A&W.
I hate all forms of Pizza and most burgers.
Grapes/Blueberries/Rasberries are disgusting. I feel queasy every time I see people eating them.
I hate Pasta/Macaroni with a passion. So nasty looking.
I am such a picky eater that I have given up on trying new things, since I automatically assume I don't like them. Further proof that my taste buds haven't develop past toddler age, I have a massive sweet tough, but I don't each much sugar cause its pretty unhealthy. Taste is important, but if something smells bad or looks unappetizing i probably won't eat it either.
