And those less fortunate must do what they can to get to that level of security but like...

What exactly do super rich people even do with all that money? I'm trying to wrap my head around it. It gets even more confusing when rich people advocate for tax breaks. Like...why? Are you legitimately afraid that you won't be able to support your family? Or is it just a pride/selfishness/greed thing?

I'm just tryna understand b00.

It's about having more than another, after a certain amount cash becomes purely a metric of your worth relative to your peers.

The super rich don't operate in the same world as you, survival is not on their radar, some are so detached they genuinely expect you to just stop being poor like it's a lifestyle choice.

Everyone wants to pay as little in taxes as possible, and wealthy people pay far more of a percentage of their income than other people.

This is the way it seems:
The middle class get an expensive sweater and maybe it's 100 to 200 dollars.
Rich people would spend way more than that on an average sweater and maybe 500 or 600 on a more expensive sweater. Some may cost over 1000 dollars.
Everything they buy costs way more than the average person can afford to spend: cars, clothes, food, houses etc.
Everyone else in that circle can spend that amount of money on items so it's normalized.
As a result, more affluent people spend a lot more money in general on everyday things.

Most of the abundance of wealth is invested if the person is a money-maker. If they are a lush socialite, it's blown

I make 70k a year. My biggest expense is my house payments. What do I spend the most money on after that? Women. Easy. Prostitutes would be cheaper, but I like women I know haven't been bored out like an old 911 Carrera.

I used to have a steady hookup with a Ukrainian girl at my gym, but she got a real boyfriend. Plus, she stopped going to the gym. But it still hurts being that close to someone and them just ending it because they found a more stable replacement.

Best way to make money is to gamble money in something called the "stock market".

They spend part of it and save the rest. In general, everything they buy is more expensive and they rotate wardrobes more often unless they're Zuckerberg or one of the tech start-up guys who dress like hobos most of the time.

That is why I think the real difference in wealth isn't between 1% and the rest, but really between the poor vs middle class and up.

The moment you have enough money that a flat tire or your home's furnace goes out isn't a big deal, or maybe (if in the US) having to go the ER won't ruin you...that is true "wealth". Anything above that is just fancier, bigger, larger, but deep down, your quality of life does not change nearly as much as going from "counting pennies to not end up in the street" vs "some kind of financial security". Having 15 yachts, 3 more homes and more maids would not really change anything beyond where I got now (I used to live in poverty and am now upper middle class).

And since most of the ultra rich's money is all invested and they spend it on big project or luxury goods, they also don't compete with the rest of us. Ultra rich people won't make the prices of your local grocery store go up. But gentrification and a lot of middle income people coming in WILL as well as raise the price of rent and such.

Anyway, that was all kind of off topic, but it's something to think about. These rich people almost live in a separate economy than we do.
