My BMI says I'm morbidly obese.

It doesn't account for muscle mass at all, of which I am mostly made up of. Everyone thinks I'm 210, when in reality, I'm 265.

It's bullshit.

Post a pic. I'm intrigued. This coming from someone who is ~200lbs at 8%bf and people guess 220-230lbs.

With enough muscle mass you usually look like you weigh more than you actually do...

I'm not just talking about this topic. I also mean when you get defensive when we talk about CICO.

I mean, CICO misses the entire point when it comes down to obesity and an honest examination on what can be done to curb the epidemic. It simplifies and reduces a vastly complex system for the sake of pretending that fat people are too stupid to realize that they are eating a lot of food.

Also, I prefer empirical evidence when a topic has been studied empirically. If you can find me a single study on the specific behavior of mansplaning, I'd gladly refer to it, regardless of the outcome.

The only point i ever make regarding mansplaning is that it does seem to be a readily observed specific phenomenon of sexism, especially in technical fields. I've both seen it first hand and heard of several people in the biomedical community complain about it, though it's likely much less common since the gender divide is not so large in biomedical sciences.

Now, find me an empirical study that suggests this is all just misperception and I'll gladly take it. That would brighten my day.

Exactly, that's the only reason I can't accept this "fat acceptance movement" because they're literally arguing with science. If you are happy being fat than more power to you, but I'm sorry being fat doesn't make you healthy.

A lot of fat people are very athletic. They can run far, jump high. They're strong.

No...um...no

Yes. Yes.

You're clueless.

Running far, maybe. Fast? That's harder to picture because it rarely ever happens outside of the NFL and chasing ice cream trucks...

I've actually seen a fat woman (I posted pictures on here) doing these incredible yoga and flexible poses that I bet many people on here wouldn't even be able to do.

It's pretty impressive

Eh, headstand is impressive looking to anyone who's never actually done yoga. But in practice though it's incredibly easy to perform if you have even a shred of upper body strength (which plenty of fat people do). So it's not really that big of a deal.

Spoilers: I do yoga on a regular basis.

Imagine actually believing this. Being obese is inherently unhealthy. Yes, some obese people can do things I physically can't do, but that does not mean they're healthy.

No you don't understand - because Forestlogic found ONE obese woman that can do yoga, as a general rule ALL obese people can do yoga (and are healthy)

????

That's not my pic. I was criticizing the dude who posted the pic. I said that almost anyone who practices yoga can do headstand, and that's it's not that impressive unless you've never done yoga before...

I'm the one who started this entire thread linking to a scientific study saying it's not possible to be fat and fit.
