After recovery I think he deserves a drink now and again. I do believe some people can get it under control.

Not EVERY person who EVER had a drinking issue can never touch alcohol again after they deal with their issues. That's the most extreme cases.

This is probably true, and people have told me I could probably drink again as long as I don't let it become a problem, but my case was very extreme so if that is something I can do in the future, it's still a long way away. Not bothered by this though. It's nice to be able to think clearly for the first time in about seven years.

But the point of drinking beer is the buzz, not really the taste. So what's the point of drinking alcohol free beer when you can drink literally any other non alcoholic drink? Wouldn't it tempt you to start drinking again more than any other beverage?

thing is, "recovery" is a binary state, either you're sober (no alcohol/whatever substance at all) or you're not. there's no in-between or "i can have a drink now and then" because the second you do that, you nullify all of the work and progress you put in

tc's drinking non-alcoholic beer (assuming for the taste), but it's all really just his mind setting up a justification for drinking alcohol somewhere down the line

the scary thing about relapsing as an alcoholic is that it happens without you necessarily even realizing it and all of a sudden finding yourself in the exact same hole you thought you'd climbed out of

that's bullshit. the idea of "recovery" and need to be "sober" is also bullshit.

having an alcoholic drink doesn't nullify progress it demonstrates since now the issue is under control.

the idea that the second anyone who's EVER had a drinking problem will ALL turn into raging lunatics as soon as they touch a drink is so overblown and misguided. it takes everything to the extreme.

I agree with this, but I'm definitely not at the stage where I can live like that. If I drank something right now, I would go back to how I was before, which I never want again. Maybe in the distant future I can revisit it, but for now, it's off limits.

If you can find it, Clausthaler is probably the best NA beer out there.

IIRC the Amber is the best.

You do realize that even non-alcoholic beers do still have some alcohol content, right? It's not 100% removed. It's just like 0.5% instead of 5%. You can get drunk from enough non-alcoholic beer.

I wasn't aware of this, but it looks like Becks Blue has 0.05% alcohol. I feel like I've broken my streak now. Sigh.

It's basically impossible to get drunk off NA beer.

I mean, it's technically there, but you'd have to slam like 10 of them in under 15 minutes to equal one regular beer.

I don't think you need to think of it as "breaking your streak" some lemonades have close to that level of alcohol. Like 5 sprites might get you up to that level.

It does kinda defeat the purpose if you feel like you can't drink NA Beer without breaking your sobriety.

That's going to be a lot of peeing.

There's more alcohol in a fresh yeast roll.
