Chrom has challenged Scorpion to Mortal Kombat! Location of the fight: The Netherrealm - This hellish terrain resembles a volcanic rock continent and lava flows liberally throughout the area. Magic users and magical beings are slowly weakened while here. While the area is vast teams will start 50 meters away, close enough to be in view of one another. Which side will win?

Guidelines
- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Rules for Voting
- Bold your votes (using bold HTML tags).
- You do not need to require justification for your vote, though the admins reserve the right to disqualify votes in the advent of obvious alt voting and other similar scenarios.
- Leaders cannot vote for their own teams (and players from the same pool may not vote as well), but they are free to argue their case.

Chrom is as seen in Fire Emblem Awakening, as a level 20 Great Lord. He is equipped with the Exalted Falchion, Noble Rapier, Blessed Lance, and Gradivus and has the skills Dual Strike+, Dual Guard+, Aether, Aegis, and Rightful King.

Scorpion is as seen in the Mortal Kombat series. He has all of his moves, but does not have access to any of his weapons aside from his kunai. He cannot teleport his opponents to the Netherrealm nor does he gain strength from being in the Netherrealm. He may only use fatalities against suitably weakened opponents.

Some notes

Chrom does not have magic so he is not weakened by the terrain

Chrom can heal with his Exalth Falcion, and full heal with the Gradius, Blessed Lance, and Aether


Chrom's Blessed Lance heals him automatically, but nore importantly Does extra damage to undead which Scorpion just happens to be.


Aether Halves defense, and Algis may even buff Chrom. Not sure what Scorps weapons are considered.


Chrom literally has a level where he goes through lava

Chrom is legit in the fire. Any area damage he may take is going to be healed. He is sufficiently agile for a human. Close combat is his strentgh and he has a weapon that will be doing extra damage to him, and Aether pings and its going to lower his defense and reisstance even more. So All the battle edge is in his favor

Some notes.

This is not Lava. This is Hellfire which puts Lava to shame. If he makes the mistake of thinking he can wade through this "lava" he commits suicide.

Secondly, his weapons don't just heal him without magical properties and thus are weakened.

Thirdly, Scorpion is used to fighting gods and the best of the planets fighters. Chrom is a generic swordsman who is much slower, has much less mobility.

Scorpion has teleports including overhead teleports that Chrom simply does not have the reaction time to counter. Not even counting Scorpions Hellfire itself... or his Kunai.... GET OVER HERE!

Punches directly through Hsu Hao's head

Breaks Havik's knee and snaps his neck

Completely destroy's Havik's head

Throws his spear hard enough to go straight through Hsu Hao's chest...

...through this Red Dragon clan member's neck...

After being escased in thick, solid ice, breaks out. Consider that Sub-Zero's ice is strong enough to protect from missiles.

Durability/Pain Resistance

Is telekinetically slammed against a shipping container, then thrown across a large distance into a truck. He gets up and fights, unfazed.

Stabbed through the chest and fighting again within seconds

Takes being thrown through a door

Takes being punched through the chest

Can take being impaled through the chest...

...twice in a row.

Can take one hell of a kick

Gets completely impaled by Sub-Zero, and gets up afterwards.

Gets electrocuted by a raged and nearly bloodlusted Raiden

Survives a huge lightning bolt from Raiden

Gets a beating from the demon he normally bonds with

Armor tough enough to stop a thrown spear through the neck

Skill

Precisely impales a thrown head

Can slice with incredible accuracy and precision

Another example of his skill with swords, and an example of just how sharp his swords are

Deflects an iceball from Sub-Zero then jumps over his sliding attack

Wraps Raiden in chains and knocks him around faster than Raiden can handle

Easily dispatches Frost, a powerful Lin Kuei ninja

Teleport strikes Raiden

Backflip kicks Sub-Zero, shattering his Kori

Speed

Dodges a thrown spear and retaliates

Dodge this ice blast from Frost

Dodges attacks from Sonya Blade

Speedblitzes multiple Lin Kuei ninjas at a time

Teleports out of the way of Sub-Zero's blast

Lands three punches before the first one can even finish rippling

Teleports, grabs a sword, and teleports away before Raiden can react

Saves Takeda with a couple of quick teleports within the span of a lightning bolt

Netherrrealm Powers

Can teleport instantly and at will

Is capable of summoning demons to restrain or subdue opponents

Uses it here to hold Sub-Zero in place to stab him

Can blast fireballs powerful enough to blow enormous holes in people's chests

I would say better than Roy by a good chunk. I think Ike probably has better brawn. I would not say its a huge difference between the two though

Ike = Chrom, basically identical in power level. Both are solid strong 3/weeks.

You can look at MKX where he has a no cooldown teleport. Also, in cutscenes he teleports from mid while falling out a helicopter and into a helicopter as it flies with no issues.

No, but eventually he's gonna get tagged. Chrom can self-heal. Scorp cannot.

Projectile spam simply isn't going to work. Chrom has too many healing options at his disposal. He basically needs to be comboed dead here, and while I think Scorp is slightly better than Chrom as far as skill, speed, strength, it's not by enough to overcome Chrom's superior weaponry and Aether.

"LOL Blessed Lance" is a lot more compelling if I could be convinced that Chrom can actually hit the Hellfire Revenant Teleport Fatality Ninja with it.

Tools mean nothing unless you can feasibly use them.

Trust me. I totally get the allure of coincidental information. Like, oh wow he is undead and his damage has a boost against undead. Obviously that is the deciding factor!

However, this is in a FMV setup. Scorpion is not standing on a tile waiting to be hit.

Scorpion has much greater durability than the enemy and the enemy for all intents and purposes really lacks the durability to survive many of the attacks here.

There is not really going to be much to heal from. It is like arguinf Chrom can never lose a fight cuz he can full heal over and over. It is not a good argument.

Scorpion is a Ninja. He has taught Ninjas. He is not a stand up front and brawl kind of guy. He is known for ambushes and sneak attacks. His gameplay moveset reeks of this. And this is settings of fighting against Gods and Demons.

There is nothing than Chrom that can point to that is even on the level of this simple and not even impressive for Scorpion combo

He can literally call up the flames of hellfire from the ground and is all around this battlefield. Chrom does not have the manueverability, speed, or durability on this terrain against this opponent.

Around 8 seconds in, this guy pulls off instantaneous teleporting. Like, even faster than Scorpion's, where he dives back into a portal to do it.

As for trying to hype hellfire and Scorpion's fire powers, Chrom's absolute best durability feat is surviving a literal baptism by fire breath of the divine dragon Naga in order to transform his Falchion into the Exalted Falchion. They make a huge deal about how it can and would kill any regular human.

How do you figure that? The only thing close to losing in that sequence is Robin surprise-stabbing him through the chest after the fight. Hell, this CG cutscene takes place before the gameplay part of this fight even, where Chrom's not got any lasting injuries despite tanking that magic blast that goes straight through him and destroys a giant stone pillar behind him.

Elements and magic aren't the most effective weapons against Chrom, especially not with added regen here.
