Man Gal Gadot is like the most beautiful woman I've seen in a movie in a long time.

Also whoever composed the movie's theme did an amazing job. That orchestra was slammin.

I'd give the movie an 8/10. Definitely the best DC one so far out of the reboot they have started with the new Superman/Batman stuff.

Agree, it was pretty great. It left a couple questions in my mind though,

1: Since only a god can kill a god, and all the others are dead... Isn't she completely unstoppable now?

2: If that German guy wasn't Aries, what was the deal with the smoke powering him up and "returning his power"?

Also, kind of makes it seem like she was half-assing the battle in BvS.

I'm gonna see it tomorrow.

It seems kinda weird how they made a good Wonder Woman movie before a good Batman and Superman movie though.

WTF is this, an imp? Jen doesn't capitalize or use that much punctuation, and this person's posts in general just don't sound like Jen.

1: Comics are full of gods. It's functionally meaningless but even setting aside how ridiculously overpowered people like Superman are there's an endless parade of non-Greek gods

2: It was just typical super soldier stuff. Until just now it never even occurred to me that it was supposed to be a red herring.

I just realized, this movie makes Lex's plan in BvS even dumber than it already was. He wanted to bend God to his will, and focused on an alien and a human... When he had direct access to a literal God, and had something he could use to manipulate her with. >_>'
They keep finding new ways to crap on Lex lol.

Minor quibble - you mean Ares. aka Mars in the Roman pantheon.

Aries is the ram constellation.

It's me. I had to make an alt because I got warned for talking about my boyfriend's butt in a sexual manner lol. When I post from my phone it autocorrects all the proper capitalization.

Man I guessed the second time Remus Lupin was on screen that he was Ares just because of how sketchy he was. That gas the dude was huffing to me just gave him extra strength. Ares wouldn't need extra strength.

They explain at the start of the movie that Ares is no longer at full power, and is trying to recover before reappearing again. Then with Doctor Poison telling him the smoke was developed to "restore your power." it's clear they wanted it to be a misdirect. Besides, we never even see that guy anywhere near a battle, why would he need a super soldier formula?

I enjoyed it. I kinda wish they cast someone for the main dude other than Chris Pine because his face looks really off putting in this movie for some reason though.

I just saw it as well. Much more emotional than I anticipated which I think made for a great experience. Gal Gadot nails it, Chris Pine nails it, they nail each other, overall it deserves the praise it's getting.

Saw it this morning. Probably the best movie in this universe thus far. Could have done with less beating on random German soldiers though, superheroes fighting normal people gets old so fast.

Not as good as Logan but better than GOTG2. Near a 10/10 for me. Gal Gadot has much better hair than Linda Carter does and is definitely beautiful. I doubt that WW2 can surpass this movie. Patty Jenkins did a great job.

I can not speak for TC but I loved it. It is not as funny as GOTG2 but is the superior film imo. I definitely recommend seeing it regardless of your race or gender. It is a phenomenal movie among the best I have seen.

Man, I liked Wonder Woman but I'm increasingly baffled by the "this is the best movie I've ever seen" levels of praise its getting. Strictly by comparing it to other DC movies, yeah, it's orders of magnitude better but I don't think it's better than the best Marvel movies and it definitely doesn't rate highly against my favourite non-comic movies.

I appreciated that DC took the advice of "stop making everything so fucking endlessly dour all the time" and tried to make it funny but god damn was a lot of the humour bad. The scene where they were trying to get into the gala was less funny than a D tier SNL sketch. The "lets talk about sex" scene on the boat wasn't cringe-inducing but it doesn't make "really funny" jump to the top of the list of ways to describe Wonder Woman.

I found the start quite boring too. I know it's an origin story thing and it was done...well, I suppose. But it was a lot of build-up of uninteresting characters all so Gal Gadot can do some "I AM HAVING EMOTIONS ABOUT EVENTS!!!!!" moments. The Amazon fight choreography is also ridiculous. Not just because of the Snyder slow-mo but the movements are just stupid. And of course they get wrecked as soon as they fight anyway so blah.

I have other more spoilery complaints but those two (not being funny and uneven pacing that continues for the whole movie) were large ones. Do people just genuinely hold the opposite opinions about those things or is there stuff I'm forgetting/not valuing as highly as others? I'm genuinely curious what makes people not just like but absolutely LOVE this movie.

I was gonna say post Dark Knight Rises but I thought that was implied.

Whatever, it's kinda weird how they managed to fuck up Man of Steel, Batman V Superman and even Suicide Squad but somehow managed to make a good Wonder Woman movie despite it probably being the hardest movie adaptation to make out of the bunch.

Honestly, I just think the problem is that Superman is virtually devoid of any personality or overall likability, thus making it hard to create a compelling storyline and having to focus mainly on battle scenes and visual appeal (to the point where it isn't even that pretty to look at).

Batman is a bit better in that sense, which is partially why he actually has a good trilogy. But I can't think of a single enjoyable Superman movie.

Superman I and II were pretty good. The thing is you *can* do a great Superman film, it's just that a winning formula hasn't been found. Man of Steel was half-decent, but they just played Superman's personality a little too flat. However, to pretend that Superman has neither personality or likeability is simply wrong, considering they've sustained multiple long-running comics based on him and he's had several successful cartoons. Honestly, Superman TAS had a greater consistent narrative and better overall storytelling than Batman TAS even if the individual Batman TAS episodes were often better.

And, of course, one issue with Superman's presentation is that they strip him of his power at one point in every film rather than just portray a villain actually on par with him or, at the very least, weaken him less.
