I'm hearing it already made 200m and is the #1 biggest box office weekend for a female director beating the previously held record of The Matrix Reloaded.

I'm surprised the ratings were so high, out of the Trinity related movies for the new Justice League, I liked it the least. I thought BvS was better, but who knows... not that I'm unhappy that the ratings for WW were so high. I think DC could use some good ratings for their movies, given the history so far.

Not sure on the second part.

The main question will be how well it does next weekend. BVS had a huge drop off. Wonder Woman could have a similar problem.

Nah, WW has like a 97% RT score and great word of mouth. It will do well next week. Maybe like a 50% drop?

I'm just wondering how many feminists that came out to support WW in the name of girl power drove up the box office-- I know multiple women that did just that and who otherwise never watch superhero movies.

I'm guessing it will be more than a 50% drop, but not the huge drop that BVS had.

That certainly could have an effect on the drop. I still think 50 is reasonable, but even if it was 60, that wouldn't be bad for a huge blockbuster going up against The Mummy next week.

A lot of oldies are seeing Wonder Woman for nostalgia too. It's got a pretty diverse audience which is a good advantage.

Given the good critical response, I really don't think we're going to see that big of a drop next weekend. Word of mouth is a powerful force.

You know that's the point, right? A lot of women never watch Superhero movies because they have no significant superhero representation on the silver screen. And when they do get it, it's garbage like Elektra or Catwoman.

The movie proves that diversifying your roles actually does matter.

Opening weekend the movie had a 52% female audience. It's the only time in history the women outnumbered the men at these movies.
