In that sense, it makes perfect sense since the first thing Captain America did was punch Hitler in the face. --- I am a senior software engineer. Not necessarily DC's "answer" to Captain America, but yes, like 90% of Golden Age superheroes, she got her start in WWII because she was created in 1941. That being said, the movie likely moves her origin back to WWI as a deliberate attempt to avoid comparisons to Captain America, which sort of screws with her motivation a bit. Sure he was into bondage but it was also more about women being dominated by men. Wonder Woman's main weakness is her bracelets. If a man manages to tie her bracelets (wrists) together, she loses all her power. Keep in mind, I said MAN, because if a woman tied WW's bracelets together, it wouldn't effect her.
