If anyone has a couple of seconds to help a poor guy fix his Skyrim's "microstuttering" issue. Game is literally unplayable in its current state for me even though my PC runs nearly every other game on ultra. Every couple of seconds, the graphics consistently hiccup

YouTube either suggests:

- Turning VSync off (to 0 from 1), messing around with the Nvidia control panel
- Troubleshooting newbie hardware issues (for people who don't know how to plug their HDMI cords into their graphics cards, updating drivers, setting their monitor to 60hz, etc.)
- Mods (tried the unofficial patch one as well as Nexus mods, didn't work for me)

All I wanna do is play Skyrim. Christ. I've contacted Bethesda customer support AND Steam (lol) to no avail. Not sure why their Special Edition had to replace the original Skyrim on Steam, either.

Help me, PotD :(

Oh, to clarify the topic title:

I'm in the "SkyrimPrefs.ini" file in the "My Games" folder and wondering what the command line is to cap fps to 60-- is it under [General], [Controls], etc.

you can use this mod:

Thanks for the thread.

Do you know if using this mod will disable achievements? I don't give that much of a crap, but I am curious... Thanks for the help so far. Still working on this.

Gahhh nothing fixes this awful stutter. I feel like it's the game that's causing something wrong for the first time in my life... usually I assume I overlooked something obvious, but this is getting to be ridiculous.

when I played the game, disabling achievements wasn't a thing. that sounds pretty stupid.

reading about it, it sounds like this mod may not be a standard construction kit type mod, which are probably the type that disable achievements. rather it's some kind of direct 3d hack which probably wouldn't disable them. can't say for sure though.

I did. I capped it in the pref menu AND tried every combo I could with the Nvidia control panel.

I DID, however, manage to find the original Skyrim with all of the DLCs:

Any idea where I can contact Steam in their client to ask if I could maybe trade what I have for that instead?

If you have played it for less than 2 hours, just use the refund option in the Steam client. If you haven't, well, you can try and ask Steam support, but have fun waiting the week or two for them to get back to you.

It used to work great on my PC. I have 50 hours logged. Not sure wtf happened, as I have not played for a while. Guessing it's a really obscure driver issue.
