Hahaha that's funny. I shouldn't laugh though---Sad!

I knew defecating in public happened in some parts of India, but this is America. Trump needs to sign an executive order about this. This is a public health issue.

Also--what is wrong with these people? They think it's normal and righteous to not enforce the laws within our country. Knowingly sheltering illegal immigrants from rightful deportation. It's not even like the USA is actively seeking them out. These are mostly people who are 1) Illegal 2) Not even following the laws.

What happened to this country?

Probably a good point, actually. A federal lawyer could argue Denver has lost its mind and send in the Feds/National guard. Followed behind street cleaners hosing everything down, of course. We don't need our troops to be at risk for E-coli, rotavirus, norovirus, hepatitis, and all the other infectious diseases fecal matter causes.

Here's what the original report says:
Before the ordinance passed, all violations of Denver municipal code were punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a fine of up to $999.

The ordinance creates new sentencing categories that carry different penalties. Most municipal offenses will carry a maximum of 300 days in jail and up to a $999 fine. The ordinance also creates “Class 1” and “Class 2” offenses.

Class 1 offenses, which carry a maximum jail one-year jail sentence and/or a $999 fine.

Bias-motivated offenses
Sexually-motivated offenses
Offenses against at-risk persons
Assault on a law enforcement officer
Assault with serious bodily harm
Assault with strangulation
Habitual domestic violence offender

Class 2 offenses, which carry a maximum 60-day jail sentence and no fine.

Sitting or lying in the public right-of-way
Unauthorized camping on public or private property prohibited
Urinating or defecating in public
Panhandling
Curfews and closures
Storage and loading
Prohibitions
Solicitation on or near street or highway

This, from before the law's passing, goes into more detail on the push
http://www.denverpost.com/2017/04/27/denver-sentencing-reform-immigrants-deportation/
The idea, spurred by advocates for immigrants, is simple: Conviction of some crimes that carry a potential penalty of at least a year in jail can put an immigrant on the radar for deportation. That’s true whether the immigrants charged with violations are in the country legally, with student visas or green cards, or illegally.

By making sure that most of its ordinance violations carry penalties of less than a year — a sentence rarely given for them anyway — the city could help immigrants who commit petty offenses lay low.

If the council approves the changes, the most serious offenses — including repeat domestic violence offenses and assaults that cause injury or target officers — would retain the potential one-year jail sentence.

“The goal is that we ensure people are receiving appropriate punishment for their crime — and that we are not unnecessarily flagging people for deportation or punishing the homeless for low-level offenses,” Hancock said in an interview.

Some immigrant advocates say the proposed restructuring doesn’t go far enough, suggesting it would be smarter to make even the top category of offenses subject to a maximum 364 days in jail to help keep offenders off the federal radar.
...
Sightings of plain-clothes agents in the Lindsey-Flanigan Courthouse’s hallways have made at least a handful of domestic violence victims and crime witnesses — and possibly more — reluctant to show up to court or aid prosecutions, city officials say.

The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency long has relied on laws that allow it to seek automatic deportation based on certain offenses in a person’s criminal background. Aside from major crimes, the guideline is that an offense that carries a potential penalty of a year or more and which ICE decides to classify as an “aggravated felony” meets the threshold.

But ICE in recent years often has erred in low-level offenders’ favor, putting them at ease.

“The fear right now is that all that discretion has now gone out the window,” Gonzales said.

She said city officials have been slow to react to immigrants’ concerns, only taking the threat of ICE agents showing up to the courthouse seriously once the Meyer firm filmed the agents and released the video in February.

The facts are that a city is knowingly harboring illegal aliens and recognizing that it's more likely for the illegal aliens they're harboring to get deported if they **** in public (among other things) and are now lowering the standards, and changing the laws to allow that not to happen.

So instead of getting deported for ****ing in the streets, they quickly get released from jail, are not deported, and can continue to **** in the streets.

What a mess.

And is shitting in the streets such a big enough deal that we should prioritizing deporting them? Plus it also prevents immigrants who are here legally from being marked for deportation for a minor offense. On top of that, it also prevents poor/homeless people from suffering a huge punishments over a minor offense.

It's one thing if the offenders are citizens of this country. It's an entirely different thing when the offenders aren't supposed to be here in the first place, are arrested, and knowingly released back on the streets as illegal aliens (even after committing crimes within "Class 1" such as "Assault with serious bodily injury") without any repercussions. Able to offend over, and over, and over again---as someone who isn't even legally allowed to be in this country in the first place. Waste of resources, waste of money, waste of policing, waste of tax payer dollars, and clearly, a continuous lowering of the standards of America.

This is disgusting. There's no way to put lip stick on this pig.

If an illegal commits a Class 1 under the changes they will still be marked for deportation. The articles says that some people think that this doesn't go far enough and think Class 1s should be changed to 364 days instead of a 1 year to prevent marking deportations. That's not actually what is happening.

You would know this if you took the time to actually read the article instead of trying to picking out things to attack without context.

You're right, I misspoke about that single fact. In theory, they may be deported. But we see all too often many violent offenders are released without getting deported.

My original points still stand. Lowering the standards of America to prevent illegal aliens from being deported. That is specifically the main goal with these new regulations. And no one should honestly be okay with this.

The goal is to prevent immigrants from being deported over minor offenses which includes LEGAL immigrants. Don't get caught up on the illegal part, because our goal should be to help those who are here legally than focusing on getting rid of illegals. Because making life worse for those who are here legally isn't good.

Yes, it's a very big deal.

First, they're illegal. They need to be deported when arrested and found to be an illegal immigrant. Second, we need to restore respect for the laws of America. If you're here as a guest via green card or visa, you need to obey the laws.

We don't need people urinating, defalcating, soliciting, sleeping on the sidewalks, etc. to stay in our country when they are not citizens and do not have a right to be here in the first place.
