They killed off the best protagonist the series has had since Luke Skywalker for the sake of shock value and plot convenience. And those are two of the worst reasons to do so.

It was completely unnecessary. You don't have to explain why Jyn wasn't a part of the original Star Wars trilogy anymore than you have to explain why Douglas McArthur wasn't present for the Battle of Midway. In war, there are lots and lots and lots of people and they don't always cross paths.

It wasn't a dramatic death. It didn't have any emotional impact. I'm all for having the hero die, but it's got to mean something. You shouldn't kill a character just to explain their absence from a sequel if there are several logical reasons for why they wouldn't be present.

Worst of all, we're now stuck with a dull protagonist after having an entertaining and relatable one. I defended Rey at the time, but there's no comparison. Jyn had a personality, had flaws, fought for her victory, and overcame. There was a genuine sense of accomplishment when she achieved her goal. With Rey, she's just a cardboard cutout who excels at everything.

Maybe it didn't mean something because all the characters were actually... completely devoid of personality or meaning.

Even if you disagree about the character deaths, you can't tell me with a straight face that Rey is a better protagonist than Jyn.

Too many movies cop out with their endings. Rogue One stuck with the whole sacrifice theme. It'll always rate well in my book.

Do I wish there was more Jyn? Hell yeah. But I wouldn't have liked how they'd have made that possible.

Literally not a soul alive cares about your opinions, especially when it comes to Star Wars, where you've clearly and repeatedly demonstrated your complete ignorance.

It wasn't for the sake of either, it's just a more believable story.

Because I don't care about what some cartoon or some video game has to say? Because I see it as a movie series and not some multi-media project? Because I don't care about fans of the EU, their plastic collectables, or their novels detailing the history of characters who received two minutes of screentime in the media that introduced the series?

Yeah, whatever.

If Boba Fett and Darth Maul can survive in the EU, then I say there's plenty of room for Jyn to survive. We only saw a flash of light. At least she wasn't cut in half on-screen.

Yes, because you think the opinions of some rando on a video game forum mean more than those of the opinions of people who create the damn thing.

Whatever. If you're gullible enough to buy a comic which claims it's "canon," that's your deal. Just don't get mad when the movies contradict it because they were never on equal footing and never will be.

Ignore when people say that the title length is not important, that a title should just convey what the game is about. They're just jealous theirs isn't as long
