Sociology is terrible. One shouldn't even mention it in the same breath as anthropology.

And before everyone gets mad at me: yes, it's just my opinion. No, I don't have a degree in either. It's just outside perception.

If I had to choose between the two, I definitely would've gone with anthropology.

Also sorta wish I had minored in econ or business, but it's too late for that, too. sigh.

I would think Sociology and PS are around the same level in terms of prospects, with Anthropology being slightly lower.

I have some small internship stuff and I'm looking into some jobs and job fairs for PoliSci this coming semester, and it really hasn't been too tough. I don't know how much more difficult or easy it would be with anth or soc.

It comes down to the skills you can learn from the degree. I picked up quantitative and qualitative data analysis, practiced using SPSS and Stata to conduct statistical testing, had to research and synthesizs all sorts information... And I got the job I wanted when I graduated. I loved my degrees (also majored in economics) and the courses I took.

I am also trying to beef up more IT skills though, so much that they can relate to my social policy work. I want to learn Python and SQL first.

I love my pols classes though, and I'm taking some useful classes. I don't regret making this my major, not really. I just think I maybe would've enjoyed antho just as much, maybe even more.

Maybe when I'm rolling in the dough I'll go back for a second degree ;b

Which level?

Mostly calc 1 from the looks of it. Mostly focuses on single variable calculus and integration, with a small overview of multivariable calculus and partial derivatives. Haven't seen this shit in 7 years or so?

I just have to take a calc placement test for my master's in public policy. I'll be taking microeconomics and statistics in the fall. I think if you do well enough in the placement tests you can take advanced versions of each.

I am not teaching myself for funsies or out of boredom lol, I don't want to bomb this placement

Again, people don't go to university solely to improve their job prospects. It can be a better way to learn new and interesting things, especially with access to worldwide databases.

Well it depends. If you go for a degree that you know won't help you much in making money you better know what you're doing - unless you're rich you'd better have specific plans on how to pay your rent. The other thing would be if you're really good at and passionate about a specific subject. Then you'll be able to make money from it regardless of how few jobs there are.

Sounds like an egregious waste of tens of thousands of dollars and a great way to ensure you remain in debt for the next 20 years of your life (unless, as mentioned in the above post, you're rich).

Don't get me wrong, if you are ~40 years old and have already secured gainful employment and can spare the cash, then go for it. Learn whatever you want. But the general consensus is that we're talking about the typical college student in their twenties.
