http://www.espn.com/blog/seattle-seahawks/post/_/id/25855/michael-bennett-its-crazy-that-colin-kaepernick-doesnt-have-a-job

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett has spent a lot of time with Colin Kaepernick this offseason and said "it's crazy" that the quarterback still does not have a job.

"To see the impact, I’ve been around great players my whole life and been around them in public, but I’ve never been around a person that everybody in the community walking through the streets, people are just coming up to him," Bennett said during an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle's "Brock and Salk" show. "I’m like, ‘Man, you’re like Muhammad Ali.’ That’s how big of an impact this guy has had"

"And it’s crazy that he’s not in the NFL. You have guys at the quarterback position who have been accused of sexual assault, players who have been caught drinking, players who have been caught smoking, people with gun charges."

The Seahawks are the only team that brought Kaepernick in for a free-agent visit. But the team did not sign him.

Pete Carroll said he believes Kaepernick is a starter in the NFL. But the team opted to sign Austin Davis to compete with Trevone Boykin as Russell Wilson's backup.

Bennett was asked why he thinks Kaepernick doesn't have a job.

"We know what the reason is," he said. "The reason is because we brought race into sports, and we brought politics into sports. This has always been a problem."

It's starting to look more like Pete Carroll and friends only brought in kaepernick to appease the players who aren't too high on Russell Wilson. His bullshit excuse about kaepernick still being a starting caliber qb and therefore not signing him is ringing hollow amongst his best players

Because he's a better back up QB than a lot of back ups in the league. It's funny how people keep saying "the players didn't like him. He's a distraction. He's bad for the locker room"...a lot of players have come out and spoken favorably of him. Even some of his old teammates have and said he wasn't a distraction, even at the height of the "controversy"

Those backup players are cheap and can run a traditional offense.

What team does Greg hardy and Ray Rice play for?

If you're great, no one cares what you did. Ray Lewis and Marvin Harrison probably killed a guy. Still had Hof careers. Kaep is an average at best player who outside of the Jets would be a backup who needs a completely different offense compared to the starter.

No one cared that kaep wore cop pig socks when his legs were still good enough to compensate for his arm.

He's a better starter than some of those backups, if we ignore money. He's a worse backup because he forces you to split your limited practice to working on the offense he can run. Teams want a backup that can run a smaller version of their standard offense. Not a completely different one. And outside of the Jets, who are clearly tanking and saving as much cap as possible, he would be a downgrade over the current starter. Including hoyer for the 49ers.

Different offenses, terrible teams around him....and even under Kelly he was able to find some success. The team overall was just not good enough.

He had good stats in the people around him literally dropped the ball, he is not asking for too much money.

I swear these sounds like the excuses people gave before they integrated sports, the the excuses that people made that forced Warren Moon to go the Canada.

Bennett himself has compared the NCAA to slavery as well as does a tremendous amount of social work for the black community and is very vocal of his politics. But he's also one of the 5-10 best defensive lineman.

Also, he went vegan. Which took away his strength.

What's so difficult to get about this? He was benched last year...for Blaine Gabbert. There was a game last year in Chicago where he had 4 yards in a game. FOUR YARDS!

The worst part is, the only people who are making this a thing, are SJW's who never watch football or look at QB stats, ever.

To have some people tell it, Colin Kaepernick is a tebow tier qb(some people have honestly tried to argue guys like osweiler and Sanchez are better for gods sake), who is locker room divider and demanding 10 million a year and a starting spot...whether any of that is actually true doesn't matter.

Nobody thinks it's because he's black, you pull that from your ass...it's because he knelt during the anthem - it's foolish to think otherwise...hypocritical America hates him because he allegedly hates America/the troops, so teams won't touch him because they don't like him for it/don't want to be looped in with him.

Amazing the crap people excuse but won't even acknowledge this is blackballing at it's best.
