Compared to the other Batman movies of the era, sure, it's the worst of the bunch. I still watch it occasionally though.

I didn't like B&R because I found it boring.

But Batman Forever is one of my Top 10.

I remember seeing it in theaters. I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it as much as the others.

I am pretty sure it is the last movie I saw in theaters with both my parents. They started thinking about getting a divorce shortly after that. The Matrix I saw with just my father, and I think that was the next movie I saw in theaters.

He didn't coin the term. He mostly just used it somewhat sarcastically once other people started using it, while still mostly agreeing with most of the ideas the term symbolizes in the first place.

I'd agree that B & R was terrible, but I easily rate Batman Forever over Batman Returns, and occasionally, depending on my mood, over the original Tim Burton Batman as well.

Though even at the time, I barely considered ANY of those movies actual Batman movies. Tim Burton's mostly seemed like his usual goth masturbatory nonsense just with Batman in it, while Schumacher's films were more like "Gay Mardi Gras - with special guest star, Batman!"

The only reason people love '89 Batman was Jack Nicholson as the Joker, and he wasn't even really playing the Joker as much as he was playing "coked up Jack Nicholson who does not give a single fuck" (which, admittedly, can be pretty entertaining).

I would as well, but I feel like much of that was nostalgia for me and seeing the movie at the right time. Batman Forever was very cool to my 8 year old self. I saw it in theaters a few times and enjoyed the video games and sound track that the film had.

The truth is that Batman movies aren't very good and the first two from the '80s (well '89 and '92 Burton ones) were not great ones by any means. Tim Burton said he was not a fan of comic books and just wanted to make movies with the characters.

Well, 12-year old me saw the first Tim Burton Batman and 15-year old me saw Batman Returns. Then 18-year old me saw Batman Forever, and 20-year old me was subjected to Batman and Robin.

When I say I prefer Batman Forever, it isn't really nostalgia (childhood or otherwise) as much as it is an active dislike for Tim Burton's Timburtonisms, which are slightly muted in the original but which are full-on rampant in Batman Returns. It also revolves around casting choices, how the actors see their roles, and how the stories are presented. If nostalgia was the sole factor, I SHOULD rank them with the original highest of all, then Batman Returns, then Batman Forever, then Batman and Robin - because I saw them all in order, and grew more and more cynical as time passed and they kept being released. But I HATED Batman Returns. Possibly even more than I hated Batman and Robin, which feels like it could potentially have been at least somewhat salvaged if it had anyone other than George Clooney as Batman (even getting Val Kilmer to come back would have been an improvement).

That being said, Batman: the Animated Series from the 90s was better than all of them by far.

I specifically bought the single CD for this song because of it:

I probably would have bought the whole soundtrack album (or at least the single) for Kiss from a Rose, but I already had Seal's full album for about a year at that point, because I really, really like early Seal (his later albums, not so much - but the first two were fantastic).
