I'm gonna post 3 examples from the top of my head of Swedish news stories which were turned into fake news by foreign far-right sites. Cases like these are why I don't even bother debating with CEmen anymore because the people who think they are true keep thinking so even when showed evidence that they aren't. I'm not saying there aren't problems with generous immigration, but some right-wing Americans in particular post so much false crap that I can't even have a sensible discussion here on CE about the real issues.


The real story: The Police publish a report saying there are 55 areas in the country where there are gangs which engage in stuff like drug trade and these gangs pose a potential threat to the safety of the residents in said areas. I actually happen to live in one of these 55 areas and there was indeed drug trade going on but the people responsible got caught in a police raid.

The foreign far-right version: Swedish Police identify 55 Islamic no-go-zones where no native Swedes live.


The real story: Some social worker made a blog post about how she, when working nights, sleep in the same bed as an orphaned (?) refugee child who suffer from PTSD due to his war experiences. The kid wake up from nightmares but is calmed by having another person sleeping next to him.

The foreign far-right version: Swedish women offer free sex to immigrant men!


The real story: Some native Swedish drug addicts poop in a church.

The foreign far-right version: Muslim refugees offered shelter in the church by the priest poop on the floor as thanks.

Just to keep going off of this I'll the say the right is getting far more extreme in their beliefs, but I'd still struggle to say that "conservatism is on the rise" anywhere

Going over the past several elections off the top of my head

- Canada repudiated its Conservative government. Voted in a Liberal with a globalist/pro-refugee agenda.
- Theresa May's Conservatives lost their majority on the British parliament
- Marine Le Pen lost in a landslide and the Centrist En Marche party seems poised to win a super-majority of legislative seats
- Wilders in The Netherlands under-performed (failing to reach even his 2010 level of support)


I mean I'm sure I'm western-centric, but none of this points to a rise in conservatism.

Even as I said, it's debatable with the US.

And even asking questions about the logistics of things like the capability to take in so many immigrants can be met with insinuations that you are a racist. Like, asking "can we really afford to take in so many refugees?" will, instead of being met with a discussion about the feasibility of it will be met with "Are you a racist? Why do you hate muslims? What's your motivation for asking that?"

So things don't get discussed and the Swedish people kind of pretend nothing is wrong or deny reality.

That's not at all how we ended up.

I can't speak for your polling on the students identifying themselves as "fiscally conservative", nor would I place a ton of stock in it.

And as for the research you found from The Gild (which as you stated, is a market research firm) I dig some digging, and they surveyed about 2000 kids, and when the same survey was taken by others, it was criticized for leading and biased questions, and overlapping answers.




Maybe Gen Z may turn out more conservative (it's certainly entirely possible), but I don't see it right now, and find the "proof" for it rather poor and unconvincing.

I've personally not seen this "rising conservatism" so far (as per my other post), and if your statement that "conservatism is rising" hinges on the possibility that Generation Z may end up more conservative relative to their predecessors, I'd suggest you consider rethinking your position.

There's no such thing as a "no-go" zone. There is a list of vulnerable and especially vulnerable areas. Just like in every country. It's not that these areas are particularly Muslim, they're particularly poor and crime-infested.
The rapes at festivals thing is partly the results of an on-going effort of encouraging victims to actually come forward and report these things, since there's been a victim shaming culture going on for centuries. Yeah, Sweden has higher rape statistics than other countries, but other countries don't count things like rape within marriage as rape, or have otherwise narrower definitions.
I don't think the video is very accurate. There are certainly problems with some migrant groups, just like there are problems with other groups, and they need to be addressed properly without twisted narratives and the like. There is definitely a big problem of the police not getting enough resources and being understaffed, which pretty much every party in the parliament are looking to address. For vacation time, IIRC around 70 police stations are closing, because it's too expensive to take on subs. There are indeed issues, but this board has a tendency to overblow them and blame them all on Muslim refugees.
