18 y/o Becca Longo, the first woman EVER to get an NCAA scholarship to play football is speaking out after she received a barrage of haters from SEXIST MEN who say she is UNWORTHY of a scholarship and that it was all a publicity stunt!!

Becca said "I've heard people say that i'm just a publicity stunt, that i don't deserve this chance. I don't let that bother me. I just need to stay true to who i am and stay true to what i've learned and keep improving and i'll be just fine. i really believe that. i really do"

Becca is the first woman to win an NCAA scholarship to play for a Division II program at Adams State University in Colorado.

Her coach, Timm Rosenbach, a former NFL QB says she has a lot of promise as the sole female player and said "If you can play football and you have determination, i don't care what gender you aree. Becca can play, simple as that. She's got accuracy and she's got a powerful leg, which will only get stronger. We brought her to Adams State for a reason: to compete for a job and help us win a football game"

Becca didn't know that she was making history when she got the scholarship and is still in "shock" over it. She's had a fascination for kicking for years despite a back injury where doctors said she would never play sports again.

She was a junior varsity kicker at Queen Creek High in Arizona and forced to sit out her junior year after transferring to Basha High. She converted 35 of 38 extra point attempts last season and her lone field goal was 30 yards.

But male football enthusiasts were not so kind over the years and call this a publicity stunt and that the University was playing "SJW" politics by inviting a woman to play football with the men. They say she is not worthy of a scholarship over men who can do way better than her...

I didn't know Div II awarded sports scholarships. And if they do, the number can probably be counted on one hand.

IIRC, Timm Rosenbach was the backup QB on the Cardinals in the late-'80s to early-'90s.

I think it is publicity stunt.

The college can give a scholarship to whom ever they want, so I won't say she doesn't deserve it. But her abilities are average, 30 yards is her career long. Also the previous back injury makes her a liability. One good hit could put her out of commission.

It doesn't see like a wise choice, but it may be that the college didn't have any other choices. Who knows.

non-combat sports are really just games grown ass men and women play with each other; usually concerning the handling of balls. in other words, they're a joke and don't really matter, so i'm all for this. i think it's good for equality. i just wish she was actually in a real position and not just a kicker so she could actually engage in the stupid melee that is football after the ball is live:

Apparently women can play in the NFL if they're eligible and get drafted. I don't think it's pure SJW bullshit to give a female kicker a chance since its a position that could reasonably be played by her.

Ever think it would be a good idea to make all sports gender-neutral and divide them into classes by weight, height, or whatever? After all, in basketball, say, a 5'3" woman is probably at more of a disadvantage against a 6'4" woman than against a 5'3" man (to use an example I heard a feminist make).

I kicked like a 45 yarder when I was around 11 or 12 and wasnt even the starting kicker...
