19 y/o Skank, Nikki Yovino from Connecticut, a former college student at Sacred Heart University is facing 2 YEARS in the slammer after she accused 2 football players of RAPE!!

The New York born student as described as looking "visibly shaken" when her defense attorney told her about the prosecutor's offer to take 2 years in prison as she was charged for falsely reporting an incident and tampering with or fabricating evidence.

Police said the cockamamie story she made up over rape was to gain sympathy from a prospective boyfriend and was worried he would lose interest in her when it became known she had sex with 2 african american football players in the bathroom during an off-campus party. She told police that the men pulled her into the bathroom and took turns raping her.

The players said it was consensual sex and were eventually cleared in the case as several party goers witnessed the whole incident and overheard Yovino say she wanted to have sex with them.

Nikki admitted to making it all up as it was the first thing that came to her mind when talking to the REAL Boy she wanted to have sympathy for her and to make him "angry"...

Those football players also chose to drop out of the college to avoid potential expulsion

The State Attorney was offering her a plea deal for her to spend 2 years behind bars followed by 3 years probation as Judge Earl Richards said it was a "good one" considering the serious allegations..

Attorney Agustin Sevillano who is representing the football players said it has been a "nightmare for them"

I'd think what he's getting that is that false rape claims just make it tougher for real rape claims to be believed, potentially hurting more people in the future.

But we should also remember that when we punish womyn for reporting rape, it promotes rape culture since it scares other womyn away from reporting rape.

"What if they don't believe me? What if I'm questioned?" The fact that womyn have to think about those makes the victim scared, and if she is not believed or gets questioned, it's almost like she is getting raped again especially if she has to say what happened.

Not gonna come back here and defend my position. If you don't agree, that's fine. I will agree that the literal act of rape, as a scarring, traumatic event that frequently has physical violence attached to it as well, is a horrific thing. Very nearly the most horrific thing a person can do.

But it's the very fact that it's revulsive, and that everyone knows this, that it makes anyone who's willing to use that to their advantage at least as bad. My friend has a guy he worked with. Decent enough fellow, but the guy ran with the wrong crowd at 18 and had a criminal record. A decade later, he's ~28, and gets into a relationship with a woman who's in her mid-thirties and has a daughter who's 16. The girl hated him for reasons unknown, and decided to be rid of him in her life, so she invented a story that he raped her. Because he's got the record, and she's a good enough actress to evoke a sad sobbing mess, now he's now in jail for a life sentence. That guy's life is no less ruined than a woman who got assaulted.

The potential for false accusations terrifies me. I work with high school students, and I can't be in a room alone with one, because the same thing could happen to me. I'm running a summer program right now, and it would be a trivial thing for me to drive one of those students home if their parents couldn't pick them up, but I won't. I can't. Not even the boys.

Of course, likewise, they shouldn't want to get into the car with me. I could rape them. But whereas I could institute a horrific, scarring event on them, which could make their life miserable, unless I also murder them in the process, what they could do to me is worse. Or at least arguably worse. I'll admit that psychological trauma might be worse than having everything taken from you and thrown in prison. But that's in the worst cases. At least there are some slight shades of gray, and not everything is the absolute worst case scenario. With life sentences, there are no shades of gray.

Before anyone attacks you for saying this, I just wanted to say that I agree. This guy has a lower chance of recovering and turning to a normal life than most rape victims, I'd say. That's why I don't want to deal in absolutes over which type of person is worse.

Just curious, is this the policy for where you work? It's really close to the policy for my workplace, except that there are even more restrictions. I've met people that aren't even willing to shake a student's hand due to the policies on interacting with students. In some cases, not even acknowledging them when they say "hello."

As strict as it is though, it makes sense. Sadly, we live in a world where the accusation of rape can be really, really bad, not just for the person accused, but in some cases also for any organizations associated with that person.

The way it's presented is that the intent is to both protect children and protect employees from any perceptions of wrongdoing. So no, they're not exclusively there to prevent wrongful accusations, but that's still part of the reason.
