It might never happen. The barrier to entry for gaming is much higher than it is for movies. A movie ticket costs less than most games, doesn't require any special equipment, and doesn't require a particular skill set.
And I'm well aware the game industry makes more money, but its unit sales are way less than ticket sales. It's clear there are more people going to movies. --- This album is not available to the public. Even if it were, you wouldn't wanna listen to it! ... Copied to Clipboard!

I would argue that they're already as popular and consumed by as many ppl but don;t have the social recognition.
