The movie is also keeping within the same canon so it's not like it's meant to be a new adaptation of the character either. This is the same franchise that used CGI stand-ins for the last movie to recreate the original characters. It is a pretty weird decision tbh. He brought on a co-director to help because he said acting as Batman and Directing was too much work to do all by himself.
