1) Gerrymandering
2) Poor Grassroots Organization
3) Terrible messaging.
4) Lack of a coherent Ideology.

Over time the Republicans have gotten more and more to the right, and the Democrats have gotten closer to the center in an effort to keep up. Now the center isn't really the center. They need to reclaim the Left and not be afraid.

Karen Handel spent the final days of her campaign going hard-negative on Ossoff, connecting him to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Kathy Griffin, and harping on the fact that his house is just outside the district. Jon Ossoff talked about how both parties needed to be fiscally responsible. Republican messaging is tailored to rile up their base and get them to vote. Democratic messaging is tailored towards voters who don't exist, often at the expense of their base.

part of the problem is the base dems want is upper middle class white liberals and minority groups

Both of these. Democrats are having an identity crisis right now, but they need to rally and get their shit together. The Bush era should have destroyed the Republican party in the eyes of the people. The fact that it didn't is testament to how incompetent the Dems are.

Real lot of good that did her lmao. Look, she didn't cheat in the primary, the primary was not rigged. It was stacked in Clinton's favor from day one, but that isn't the same as outright cheating. The Dems technically don't owe anyone a fair primary, they can nominate anyone they damn well want, it's their party. I'm not saying they should do that (such a move would probably be political suicide), but it's something to remember.
