No, that was DP and his team there was a bit better. It at least had Sceptile and Heracross (and Swellow!).

In Unova I think he lost to a fucking moron who thought the battle was 5 on 5.

You could make an argument for the time he had a gym match and everyone was telling him to stop because he was exhausting...i want to say his Treecko? and he got all hubristic about it, then threw a serious tantrum when he lost

Yeah I'd have to agree. Especially since his reasoning was so Primeape could become a "real P1 Champion" even though he JUST won that tournament.

Although...

Discounting things like forgetting he has a Pidgeotto to search a large area, forgetting that he's met pokemon in movies that render his current questions meaningless, and never seeing through Team Rocket's disguises, it's probably when he was battling in the Hoenn Battle Thing, chose Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charizard for his team as an original three kind of deal, had Charizard use a fighting move on a ghost type, and get Charizard instantly knocked out for the rest of the battle.

With the exception of his Pikachu, the rest of the Pokemon on his team are Pokemon from the region he's currently exploring. Although the Johto region was an exception, since he used some of the Pokemon he caught in Kanto when traveling through Johto, but that might be due to Kanto and Johto having such close ties to each other.

It'll be interesting to see if Ash gets an Alolan Form as one of his 6 Pokemon for his Alola region team. The Alolan Forms were being advertised as new Pokemon in a sense, so I guess they might give Ash one Alolan Form for his team.

Jesus christ I forgot about this

But I do like how the writers were intent on protecting Charizard's rep by having it be KO'd due to something that was completely Ash's fault.
