Well, CCWI is one of the best shmups of all time even though its a new game (relatively speaking) on the scene. Developed by YOTSUBANE (renowned CAVE stg scorer and also a QA tester for numerous other shmups) you're getting a handcrafted passion project that caters to both newcomers and season veterans alike. The game has various game modes, 4 different ships, a fun and intuitive scoring mechanic with the lockon missiles and break/double break, and godlike OST. If you're new to the shmup scene the game offers a novice BOOST mode, which essentially is a modified rank system that scales the difficulty of the game in accordance to how well you are currently performing. Novice gives you a gratuitous amount of extends (1ups) for you to playthrough all 5 stages+TLB (true last boss) to get the coveted 1cc (1 credit continue) run. "But ManSpread, how can a game with only 5 levels be so much fun and have lots of replay?" Shmups are the original competitive game. If you credit feed, then yeah, shmups probably aren't for you. But if you don't credit feed, shmups are some of the most rewarding games there are due to the competitive nature of the scoring system and ranked leaderboards. The primary goal of shmups is firstly 1ccing the game (beating the game without using any continues) and then maximizing your score through mastery of game mechanics. These games have an insane level of replay value as you can monitor in real time how your skills develop due to shmups being a score based game. Seriously, this game is only $2 and its the best bang for your buck on the summer sale if you're willing to learn the game and accept a bit of salt as you go through the hoops of old school arcade difficulty.
