http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-russia-news-trump-admits-election-interference-blames-obama-2017-6

President Donald Trump appeared to admit that Russia interfered in the 2016 US presidential election in a Friday night tweet in which he criticized Barack Obama for his handling of Russia's cybertattacks that were meant to swing the election away from Hillary Clinton.

"Just out: The Obama Administration knew far in advance of November 8th about election meddling by Russia. Did nothing about it. WHY," Trump asked.

The heads of several US intelligence agencies issued a statement formally accusing Russia of trying to interfere in the election on October 7 last year.

The FBI and several congressional committees are running multipronged investigations of possible cooperation between the Trump campaign and Russia and potential obstruction of justice by Trump. The president has repeatedly called the probe a "witch hunt" and a "phony story."

On Friday, Trump also said in an interview on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" that Obama "knew about Russia a long time before the election, and he did nothing about it."

"The CIA gave him information on Russia a long time before they even — before the election," Trump said. "To me — in other words, the question is, if he had the information, why didn't he do something about it? He should have done something about it."

Other Obama administration officials defended their efforts to counteract Russia's activities.

I don't get US politics. Why does any of this even matter.

Russia "meddled" with US elections - how? Did they hack the voting stations to produce significantly more votes for Trump? Obviously not. Did they hold physical ballot counters at gunpoint? Also obviously not.

Did they have some people post Pepe memes and MRA shit on 4chan and Reddit? Maybe? If so, who fucking cares, that's not even close to being illegal, and if you're stupid enough to base your political opinions on that you deserve to get nuked by Putin.

The same thing with Hillary's emails. Who cares?

People don't blow trivial shit out of proportion here, or if they do, it sure as hell doesn't make the news.

I think this is about the extent of it. Dems think Russian propaganda influenced people's votes. It's pretty tinfoil hatty

I think if anything Trump is taking a jab at the idea that if Obama knew about it well ahead of the election why did they do nothing about it

It's been confirmed by representatives in both parties and by intelligence officials that Russians did compromise parts of our electoral system. This isn't a left vs. right discussion.

As of right now, we have evidence of election-related systems in 21 states that were targeted, Jeanette Manfra, the acting deputy undersecretary for cybersecurity and communications at the Department of Homeland Security, told the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Right. But they didn't leak out how truly shitty the RNC is.

If that were leaked, it'd be at least as devastating.

And plenty of other Republicans think he's still running against Clinton. It's so bizarre how every time you criticize a choice he makes, instead of countering with why it's the right choice, they counter with "but Clinton!" That's great. I don't care for Clinton whatsoever. What she would have done doesn't really matter now, does it? She's not president. The person who should answer for the actions of the president is the person who is president, not... the person who is not.

Honestly, they are probably mostly correct about the hacks not making any difference in the election. The main expose didn't have much to do with Trump at all, but how Clinton and the DNC teamed up to keep anybody who is NOT Clinton out of the Democratic nomination. Frankly, she didn't deserve to be president and the DNC deserved to be knocked down a peg. I hope news like that gets leaked every time, on both sides of the fence, so people can (attempt to) make informed decisions with as much as possible.

But don't try to say somebody is a great president because they are better than the forced competition. We had a choice of two polished turds, one painted red and gold and one painted silver and blue. The red and gold one won out, but consuming the winning turd doesn't make it delicious or healthy.

I honestly don't see how that's a problem.
The DNC is just a private group of people who have decided to pool their resources into one candidate who will speak for them. I think. They can decide who that candidate is however they want, who cares? Americans can still vote for whomever they want regardless of the DNC's chosen candidate.

The fact that they happen to be as large as they are seems irrelevant to me.

Pretty much. While the event was problematic, it certainly wasn't the first time that damaging content was illicitly obtained then leaked. Plus the impact is rather questionable.

Except for the fact that we had a physical recount which ruled out the claims of the polls being tampered with which, by the way, was something that Democrats insisted couldn't happen in the first place. Our system was NEVER compromised, something that's acknowledged even in that link which you clearly didn't read:
Officials said there was no evidence that systems involved in vote tallying or reporting were affected.

Overlooking that Trump never ran again Obama, it's worth noting that a few years into his presidency and Obama was still taking jabs at McCain (not to mention continually blamed GWB).

You seem to forget that GWB's name was referenced frequently in complaints even during the final years of Obama's presidency, in addition to being a major talking point in 2012's election (the stupid car analogy being a perfect example). None of which touches upon the fact that Dems frequently said, "At least it's not Kerry in office!" or "It'd be worse under McCain!" or, if they were particularly stupid, "Well, if not Obama we'd have Palin in office!"
