Past year and a half or so my L trigger on my New XL has been wonky, would stop/start when it'd work and such. Past, oh, half a year it completely stopped. I didn't play any games that bothered me with its lack of usage so between that and not playing 3DS for a while I put it off taking it in. Well, here I am playing Ever Oasis, and a good 11 hours into it and I can't progress the main story because I need to aim my crossbow to hit a switch. Which involves holding down the L trigger.

So this is fun.

It's fun. Not the best game by any means, it's average in many areas like writing and environments, but the combat is fun and it has a very addictive quality to it.

Charging it for half an hour and taking it in to my local game shop to have it looked at. Crossing my fingers it's a cheap fix and not something more complicated.

Welp, it will take up to 2 weeks. Hopefully less, we'll see. And hopefully it's simple. I don't know what to play in the meantime though, I just want to play my 3DS. ;_;

Consider it an opportunity to learn something new.

Try to fix it yourself and it will give you confidence in doing that sort of thing going forward. I bet almost anything that it's not that hard.

Stupidly easy. You can do it! I love learning to do stuff like this because I hate feeling helpless and having to rely on so called professionals who will try to rip me off because they think I won't know any better.

One of the buttons on my old DS (the down directional pad button, iirc) stopped working for a while. I bought a tiny screwdriver on Amazon for like $4, opened it up myself, and cleaned the circuit that had gotten a bit of gunk on it. Fixed the problem for cheap and in under 5 minutes (plus shipping time). If it's a simple fix like that, it should be no problem, and DEFINITELY shouldn't take 2 weeks.

Yeah, 2 weeks is definitely worst case scenario. The thing is the place has two locations and the guy who fixes shit is at the other location all of next week, but the person I was talking to said he'd try to get my 3DS to him tomorrow as he'd likely be in the store visiting anyway. Then if he happens to need to order something, which i hope isn't the case, that's another week.

Buy an ifixit kit that has all the little screwdrivers you'll ever need. Or take it somewhere to get fixed. Fuck it, dude, whatever. You act like I should be hanging on your every post. I was trying to encourage you to step outside your comfort zone but you're clearly uncomfortable with anything that requires more brain power than swiping a credit card.

i'd buy some screwdrivers and take it apart yourself if you're willing to. i'm assuming you don't have a warranty anymore but i'm sure you could send it to nintendo to fix for a price.

Already took it to the local store. Rather send it to them and spend ~$15 then send it Nintendo, wait a month, get charged +$70, and possibly have them send me an entirely different 3DS model. Fuck no.

Ha I bought the special Pikachu edition and never opened it, until I dropped my other plain old blue one and the screen broke :( I pretty much baby the special edition lol

I had the same problem. 2 dollars to replace the shoulder cable and the tiny screwdrivers are super cheap as well. Had to wait two weeks because I didn't want to pay extra for shipping. Easy fix.
