Which one of these is the worst offender for making lazy cash grab remakes?

The worst offender can be in terms of quantity or magnitude. For example, we take a look at the Nintendo 3DS which has basically become a port/remaster machine rounded out with some lazy shovelware. However, we also have companies like Naughty Dog, who only have a few lazy remasters but are severe offenders (re-releasing mediocre 20 year old games, "remastering" a game that came out a year ago and charging full price, etc)

Gotta go with Square Enix. How many remakes and compilations are they going to release before they just fucking finish the series?

Square Enix is probably correct but I don't know enough about them. Nintendo do a lot of remakes and rereleases but they tend to actually be well done.

I went with Sony. Their rereleases tend to be lazy ports. Look at the ratchet and clank hd ports, or jak and daxter ones. And there was all the "HD remakes" for the PS3 that were literally just an upscaled PS2 game.

I voted Sony too. There's also the PS4 ports of PS2 games. They just slapped trophies on them and charged $15, even if you already bought the game digitally on PS3.

Nintendo because all the others end up half price or less extremely fast while Nintendo maintains the price near MSRP indefinitely and it seems like porting is about to become even bigger for them with all the Wii U stuff they're going to port.

Where the heck is Capcom at?
SF 2 has been remade for nearly every console since the SNES/Genesis days. And RE4 has been on near every console since the PS2/XBOX/NGC days.

What's wrong with Naughty Dog? The Uncharted and TLoU remasters were great. They added a photo mode and new difficulties. Uncharted 3 had extras added to it that weren't in the PS3 version and TLoU came with all the DLC. They both released at $40 too iirc.

And charged you full price for it of course even though you just bought the game brand new a year ago

I paid $10 for TLoU Remastered on release day. It released at $40 and GameStop had a trade promo where they'd give you $30 if you traded the PS3 version towards it.

Still feels mostly the same every year. Even great games get dull without enough change. Look at THPS.

What's your point? They gave me the remastered version for $5 less than it would have cost to buy the DLC on PS3.

TC's probably mostly doing this to troll, but I actually agree that remake/remaster culture is killing the industry. I rarely even buy new games anymore, partially because anything interesting nowadays will just end up getting a "definitive version" rerelease like five months after I buy it.

How does Naughty Dog even fit this? The only thing they've even done is The Last of Us Remastered which was fair since it was critically and commercially acclaimed and came right at the end of the last gen so giving it the 1080p/60fps treatment as an early current gen title was fair. It's just like what Rockstar did with GTA V, it came at the tail end of last gen so it deserved to be brought over to current gen. And we know in the case of both games they always intended to make current gen versions.

And Naughty Dog didn't do the Nathan Drake collection, that was Bluepoint Games and considering Uncharted 4, the end of the franchise, for Naughty Dog was coming out, was a hugely hyped PS4 title and with how the PS4 was mopping the floor with Xbox in terms of sales you know a lot of people who didn't have PS3's have a PS4. Plus Sony even said that part of their marketing strategy was targeting people who didn't own a PS3 last gen. So I don't know how you can consider the Nathan Drake Collection a lazy remaster when it gave a quality 1080p/60fps treatment to an acclaimed PS3 exclusive franchise that was getting it's conclusion on PS4 which was being hyped as possibly the biggest/best PS4 exclusive and it was outsourced to another company so they didn't divert any resources from Uncharted 4 development or the small team that was undoubtedly already starting TLoU 2 early pre production.
I think a lazy remaster would be not working on anything new and just remaking a past success game, not really giving full attention to detail and redoing all the textures and everything but just redoing main textures then upscaling other stuff then charging $60 for it and just milking a past success for more money.
