So 115 people voted "Yes, they'll make too many, they'll be sitting on store shelves forever". Does anyone seriously believe this? I know I am gonna get screwed just like the NES classic. It was easier for me to get a Switch.

it's because every time nintendo releases something, idiots go "oh, they know the demand for their product now so they'll ship more to cover it" despite the fact that, no.

creating an artificial demand by not shipping near as many as they need to is Nintendos entire thing.

It's brilliant marketing for their brand. They release a holiday item in limited quantites so it becomes something everyone is talking about and wants but can't get. Suddenly nintendo dominates the retail conversation and a few months later everyone rushes to buy the switch.

Well Nintendo's factories are busy, I think they just make as many as they can. With the Switch they can't help it either because the parts used are also used by smartphones, so there is a shortage. They really need more and bigger facilities to make things faster.

hahaha no

there's no shortage of anything, nintendos factories in China aren't as busy as they can be

nintedo is the only company that routinely has product shortages. it's not a coincidence.

You can credit scalpers rather than Nintendo. They buy the thing around the holidays and, if they can't sell it at a good profit, it goes right back on store shelves later.

Sure, and Sony didn't have shortages on PS3 and PS4 when they launched...

Nintendo couldn't even make enough NES classics to last the first hour of any store opening.

They can't keep the Switch in stock.

Hell you can go into stores and have trouble finding a 3ds.

There is no way in hell they are going to get a SNES out to everyone who wants one before they decide to randomly cancel production of it.

Losing sales by not responding to the demand is not great business. People may talk about it but in the end, not responding to the demand is a worst scenario. NES Classic or not, I don't believe Switch sales would have been that much different, the Switch sells because it's a great console with great games and also because they actually did marketing this time (in comparison to the Wii U).

The difference is Nintendo knows it's create sensationalism for their products. I can't remember the last time news outlets were running peices on how hard the PS4 is to get.

I'm honestly surprised people are excited for it, just like I was surprised people cared so much about the NES release. It's an eighty dollar emulator. It's too expensive for me to care about it. I'd buy one at like 25 bucks. But nostalgia isn't worth $80 to me.

Huh, Zeus is actually right.

I guess it isn't too impressive though considering how stupid the "Nintendo artificial scarcity" conspiracy theory is too begin with.

Woah look SNES's, they're even cheaper and you don't have to camp outside a store to get it.

But the games
