HOW?? https://www.yahoo.com/news/shot-son-then-took-selfie-120032240.html One part of George Mangan Jr.’s home has remained almost unchanged for more than two years: the bedroom of his 16-year-old son, Ryan Mangan, who was shot and killed by another teenager in February 2015. I was told by some liberals on CE once that people of color always get very unfair (long) sentences.

Probably because of his age and the possibility that there was no premeditation. What you do afterwards generally won't affect your actual state of mind at the time of the crime. But that's what people are punished based on. It can be evidence of your state of mind, but it's not a substitute for premeditation or felony murder or anything.
While this was extremely messed up, that's the law. He claimed it was an accident so he didn't clearly have the necessary intent for a higher charge. This kid was already tried as an adult and got 15 years, it's not like he got off. He's still a murderer. And it's obviously fine to think he should have gotten a higher charge and sentence or that the selfie was strong evidence of premeditation. This "so much for white privilege" angle is pure trolling though. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
